That's a pretty spectacular pool at Camping Club Le Trianon in the Vendée. A waterpark in actual fact, made up of an outdoor pool and paddling pools, an indoor heated pool, waterslides aplenty – and stacks of sunbathing space and loungers alongside: have a look at the site pics then pack your togs.
Weeks' worth of watery adventures await around these parts too, as Club Le Trianon is on the spectacular Côte de Lumière, home to golden stretches of sandy beach as well as famed Vendée seaside resorts including Les Sables d’Olonne 15 minutes' drive away. Take the free shuttle bus to the beach in July and August or set off exploring the region via bike rides through its pine forest or strolls along the local harbours. Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, Brétignolles sur Mer and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez are all within easy reach along the coast.
The site is on a woodland estate of 12 hectares, a mere minute's stroll from nearest town Olonne sur Mer. As you'll see from the waterpark pics, there's enough to do to keep all ages damply or sunbathingly occupied for aeons... if you tire of that, there are play areas and activity clubs for kids, a teens' club for the more mature, and daytime and evening events for grownups – as well as other leisurely options such as tennis and pétanque.
The restaurant, snack bar and takeaway should cover all your eating in; eating out, a bar, bakery and pizza restaurant are within a minute or two's walk.

Local resort Olonne is a fine spot to start your Vendée coast adventures: it's known as the 'green lung' of the the Pays des Olonnes and the Vendée coast because of its lush forest and preserved marshes, covering around 2,000 hectares. There are bike paths and hiking trails to tackle, surfing via the town's two clubs, and two beaches (Granges and Sauveterre) for swimming as well as fishing from the rocks. Karting is also available in town.
Next up should be Sables d'Olonne, for jetskiing adventures, three kilometres of beach, Atlantic fishing boat trips and the Sealand Aquarium of Noirmoutier. After that, mosey further west to Brétignolles sur Mer (20 minutes' drive), for a peaceful vibe and 13 kilometres of beach; Saint Gilles Croix de Vie (35 minutes), for fishing trips and boats to the Île d'Yeu, and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez (40 minutes), home of the Atlantic Toboggan waterpark and the L'ile-aux-Jeux play park.
Heady options for heady types are the skydiving, parachuting and tandem jumps from Château-d'Olonne: if you're brave enough, this is a spectacular way to see this spectacular part of Vendée coast.
