It’s all about location, location, location at family-run Landsker Camping, a spacious family-friendly site at Canaston Bridge in Pembrokeshire. As well as a spectacular setting in roughly 10 acres of young woodland, you have the added bonus of being 10 minutes’ drive from big attractions like Picton Castle Gardens, Wild Lakes Wales and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. With views over peaceful countryside, the generously sized, flat grass pitches are sheltered by trees and spaced out for extra privacy (they’re also dotted by wild flowers in spring). You’re welcome to explore the woods, and let the kids splash around in the stream. For family adventures or exercise with any doggy chums, a footpath from the site leads directly to the 60-mile, looped Landsker Borderlands Trail, and 10 minutes’ drive has you on the trails through Canaston Woods. Facilities on site include a toilet block, showers and a washing-up area. There’s a firepit on every pitch, so pick up barbecue essentials in the market town of Narberth (10 minutes’ drive – there are lots of restaurants and pubs there too). Firewood is included within the cost of the pitch. This area is known for its fabulously dark skies (and associated excellent stargazing) – that means torches are advisable for after-dark manoeuvres.

Mi è piaciuto: The owners were lovely, with Phil giving us great suggestions on where to go/what to do while we stayed. The site was clean, easy to navigate, and very peaceful with incredible stargazing and birdsong each night and morning. Firewood was provided as part of our price paid, and they kept us well topped up with whatever we needed to keep warm.

Non mi è piaciuto: Hard to nail down any dislikes! The pitches were on ground that doesn’t drain perfectly after a heavy rain, meaning it can get a bit muddy. Didn’t bother myself and my friends one jot, but if you were bringing dogs/children I could see it becoming an issue. Having said that, this could be an issue unique to our stay as the weather was a bit all over the place!!

Mi è piaciuto: We loved every minute, the campsite was magical and our pitch was amazing and felt very private it was like camping in the woods but with all the amenities, such as lovely clean toilet/shower block, fire pits, wood and even marshmallow kits available. The children loved everything there and it felt so safe that I could let the kids explore. The owners are so lovely and made us feel so welcome even our crazy goldendoodle! Thank you so much for our perfect little break.

Mi è piaciuto: We loved how private the pitch was, but how social it could be also with the communal kitchen. Hosts were lovely, site was well maintained & very clean. Loved the fire pit & benches they were such an added bonus! Toilets & showers very clean..We loved how peaceful it was & I can confidently say we will definitely will be returning next year.

Mi è piaciuto: It was so quiet and peaceful... me and my kids loved the walks around the campsite... the owners were so lovely and never failed to stop for a chat to make sure everything was OK and we were happy... this was our 1st time camping and what an amazing experience we had... we would 100% look at rebooting next year

Mi è piaciuto: Wow what a gem we found at landsker camping just outside Narberth. Lovely individual pitches with your very own little area to set up camp surrounded by trees. Can’t recommend this site highy enough. Loads to explore for all ages. The toilets and showers spotless and Phil and Caroline the hosts can’t do enough for you and even spends the time to get to know you which made a truly fantastic 10 night stay! Kids loved every minute and didn’t won’t to leave! One of the best, beautiful sites we have ever stayed at Planed our next stay at Landsker camping before we even left Thank you Caroline,Phil and of course Emily. 🙂

Mi è piaciuto: A friendly, picturesque and well thought-out campsite, set in woodland in the heart of Pembrokeshire. Excellent campsite facilities and hot showers! We had a great stay here camping with our kids – the owners are very friendly too with lots of tips for the area.

Mi è piaciuto: This site is magical, each pitch is its own clearing in woodland!! The pitch itself was fairly level, grass, no rocks, which was lovely. Also had a fire pit and picnic bench for every pitch. Chopped wood was available to purchase. The toilets/showers were kept clean and stocked at all times. There was even a communal fridge freezer that was very useful for a well earned cold cider after pitching our giant tent in the warm weather. Our tent is the horizon 700 (aka massive) and there was still loads of space on our pitch for the kids to play and us to sit and relax. There was a small play area for the children and board games to borrow.

Non mi è piaciuto: The only improvement would be a larger sign at the entrance as I was worried we were driving into someone's private garden to start, but Phil was there quickly to greet us and to show us were to go

So will it be the lions, tigers and zebras at Manor Wildlife Park, or the vintage fairground and animal barn at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (both 10 minutes’ drive) first? And don’t worry, there’s plenty more to do locally. The waterslides and coasters at Oakwood Theme Park (five minutes) for starters, or perhaps you can lose the kids (and find them again, of course) in Picton Castle Escape Rooms (10 minutes) – and don’t forget the photogenic remains of 12th-century Llawhaden Castle (five minutes) make a lovely spot for a picnic. For family rambles in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, head for the tree-lined paths of Minwear Wood, or follow the Cleddau Trail (both five minutes) along the course of the river. And for action-filled days out, the floating inflatable climbing course, wakeboarding sessions and climbing wall at Wild Lakes Wales (10 minutes) or the mountain-biking tracks at Llys y Frân Country Park and Reservoir (20 minutes) should fit the bill nicely. There’s more family fun to be had on the Pembrokeshire coastline too, with sandy beaches at Tenby (25 minutes), Saundersfoot and Amroth (both 20 minutes) for rockpooling and sandcastle building.
