Spending your holiday touring around South Wales and need a place to stay – perhaps within stumbling distance of a refreshing pint of ale? Then The Hog’s Head might just be the place for you. This family-run site has a number of hardstanding touring pitches at the back of a traditional pub in rural Monmouthshire, a 15-minute drive from the historic market town of Abergavenny. The proximity to the pub is only one of several reasons why staying here is a top idea. Your four-legged companion is also a welcome guest. The fully serviced pitches with water and drainage hook-up points sweeten the deal, alongside a toilet block and hot-water showers. There are heaps of interesting trails to explore in the area, starting with the long-distance Offa’s Dyke Path, which goes just past the site. You can follow it to the River Trothy, the forested banks of which are home to colourful butterflies, or pick it up by the medieval Whitecastle fortress (10 minutes’ drive or 20 minutes’ walk along a narrow country lane). All the while, you’ll be gazing at distant views of Sugar Loaf and other peaks in Brecon Beacons National Park. If you prefer to explore the area on horseback, there are a couple of stables within a half-hour drive of the site. In addition, you can practise your swing at several local golf clubs, or book a tour (with tasting) at the White Castle Vineyard (10 minutes). Please note that the site's pub is wet trade only, and does not serve food.

Mi è piaciuto I liked the space offered with full facilities. Good showers and loos. Great space for walking dogs and right on the Offa's dyke pathway and the 3 castles route. It was quiet on the nights that I was there. I cannot therefore comment on other nights where it could possibly be noisy from the pub, maybe.
The pub was a proper drinks only, not food pub. Nice atmosphere and well known in the area. They will help with food, a couple of other campers had ordered in fish and chips which they ate in the pub.
Dale couldn't have been more helpful from arrival to departure - with emergency cable ties attached to loose bit of motorhome!
Will definitely go back.

Mi è piaciuto Toilet / shower blocks were amazing, better than some hotels / air b&Bs I’ve stayed in. So clean and modern. The onsite pub was lovely, great selection of drinks and very warm and friendly and the free wifi even reached our pitch!

Mi è piaciuto Location was great.
Pitches were spacious and well kept.
The owner (Dale) was a gentleman and looked after me very well. I was made to feel welcome at all times and having the pub onsite was a real bonus.
Toilets / Showers were spotless and self contained.

Non mi è piaciuto Very little. Food onsite would have been nice. That said a choice of local Take Aways were available for delivery, and these were able to be consumed in the pub. Brilliant!
