Tyn Cornel Camping

Mi è piaciuto Our second visit to Tyn Cornel and it was as lovely and peaceful as we remembered. The river location is gorgeous and the site grounds are really well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and the milkshake and ice cream vending machines were a huge hit with the children as well as the football goals on to the camping field. Lovely walk down to the cafe to watch the rafters!

The women’s toilets and showers were clean and tidy with a lockable shower door and space to dry and dress within the shower cubicle.

Non mi è piaciuto We chose a fully serviced pitch this time and wish we hadn’t. We much preferred the electric hardstanding section we were on last year. The pitch was on an incline and we found it very difficult to level the caravan. Unfortunately we had forgotten our chocks (completely our fault) but the staff very kindly lent us some that had been left behind by other guests. We did however also have to use a brick and pieces of slate to get the van level.

We followed the rules given on arriving on where to place the caravan ensuring the grass area was a fire break but on the adjacent pitch there was a tent within inches of us. I feel there should be a break in between the tent pitches and caravan pitches to prevent this.

My husband and son noted cracked tiles in the bathroom that were cracked last year, a small fix which would improve the facilities. They also massively disliked the fact the men’s showers only have a curtain for privacy, no lockable door!

Non mi è piaciuto The pitch we where given was completely unusable for out tent. It was sloped and rocks throughout the pitch. Had to move us to the caravan and Motorhome site which was honestly no better. Never have we had this issue before in the 30 years we’ve done camping for. If they respond to this, I’m only telling the truth, there where a few camping pitches that would have been more suitable but we where told they had been booked however no one came to them pitches. The road noise was ridiculous, we were bitten to pieces by the mosquitoes of an evening. The price is far to high for what the site has to offer.

I’m genuinely sorry that the pitch allocated wasn’t suitable for your tent and that the alternative area didn’t improve matters. We do allocate pitches based on bookings, but we’ll certainly review how we manage unused reservations so guests aren’t left wondering why empty spaces stayed empty. After moving you twice and speaking with you during your stay, you were definitely a lot happier with your final pitch.
As for the road noise, mosquitoes, and the overall experience not matching the price — we hear you. Unfortunately, we can’t negotiate with the local insect population or convince the nearby road to quiet down, but we can look at how we communicate these aspects more clearly and how we improve the comfort of the site itself.
We appreciate your honesty, and after 30 years of camping, you definitely know what works and what doesn’t. We’ll be taking your comments on board to ensure future stays feel far more like the relaxing outdoor escape they’re meant to be.

Mi è piaciuto A gem of a site. Spotlessly clean, very relaxed. We loved the nice cream and coffee vending machines! Really decent size pitches. So friendly and welcoming. Space to walk the dog. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We can’t wait to book again!
