If finding out about the history of Welsh farming piques your interest, the National Wool Museum has displays explaining all about the Welsh woollen industry and is 10 minutes' drive from the site. Visiting 900-year-old Cardigan Castle (half an hour’s drive) is another way to learn about the local area – as well as catch up on contemporary culture as it’s often used as a concert venue – or you can go underground and further back in time at the Roman-era Dolaucothi Gold Mines (40 minutes away). Chug along to another example of Wales’ industrial heritage at the antique Gwili Steam Railway (30 minutes) or whisk yourself towards the Welsh Wildlife Centre and the Teifi Marshes (40 minutes) for birdwatching species like kingfishers and tawny owls from specially set up observation hides.
