Peaceful surroundings and a convenient location are all rolled into one excellent package at Exebridge Lakeside Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. This family-friendly spot is in a handy location just off the A396 at Exebridge, and it’s got wonderful views over the Exe Valley and the surrounding hills. This site is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, and it’s open to non-members as well as members, with discounted rates for members. The price displayed is the member rate; non-members will need to pay the £15/night extra or buy a £69 membership. Membership is worth considering if you’re likely to spend more than four nights at a Club site over the coming year – it brings discounts at more than 140 UK sites, plus other perks including access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance, discounts on days out and savings on top brands. Everything here has been designed to make stays nice and easy – the pitches are pleasingly level throughout, and have access to a good range of facilities including a launderette, a chemical disposal point, a wifi service and bathrooms with family and accessible areas. As the name suggests, this site is also home to a lake – a trail runs along the water’s edge for an easy stroll, and handily also leads to the local pub (10 minutes’ walk away) for a refreshing drink or an evening meal. Dogs are welcome on site, on the walking trail and at the pub too.

Indicazioni percorso

Please only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not sat nav, due to unsuitable roads for towing. Leave the M5 at junction 27 onto the A361 (signposted Barnstaple, Tiverton). In about 6 miles at the roundabout turn right onto the A396 (signposted Dulverton). After about 5 miles, at the roundabout by the Exeter Inn, turn left (signposted Dulverton, still on the A396). In 2 miles at Black Cat junction on a sharp left bend, do not turn left or right but keep right on slip road to crossroads. Cross the B3227 and continue straight on A396 (signposted Lake Side). The site is on the left within 2.5 miles in Exebridge by an entrance to a farm.

Drive north for 10 minutes and you’ll get to the pretty town of Dulverton, in the southern part of Exmoor National Park. It’s a good place to stock up on snacks and pick up info from the visitor centre before setting off on walks in the surrounding area – perhaps at Haddon Hill (15 minutes’ drive), Tarr Steps (25 minutes) or Dunkery Beacon (25 minutes). Other activities? Absolutely – how about watersports and fishing at Wimbleball Lake (20 minutes), horse riding from Pine Lodge Riding (15 minutes) or wildlife spotting with The Original Exmoor Safari (25 minutes)? You can also fish next to the site in Exebridge or meet the local animals at the Exmoor Pony Centre (20 minutes). For other days out, take the kids to Exmoor Zoo (40 minutes), dip into local heritage at National Trust - Knightshayes Court and Tiverton Museum Of Mid Devon Life (both 20 minutes) or cross the national park to reach Dunster Castle (half an hour), Minehead beach (35 minutes) and the South West Coast Path.
