What might you hope for when staying on a Devon farm? Surely sloping countryside on all sides and pubs, footpaths and bridleways within easy reach? Northcote Manor Farm certainly ticks off all of those points, plus several more… This site has views of Dartmoor National Park as well as open farmland, and as it's on a small working farm, guests shouldn’t be too surprised to spot friendly sheep, chickens, horses and the three resident donkeys (with names like Teabag and Woolly) around the fields. Pitches are nicely tucked away in a summer hay field, where it should be easy to get into the pace of rural Devon life. The peaceful, level pitches have access to facilities including clean toilets, fresh water and waste disposal. There’s also plenty of space to spread out, set up your kit and relax without being packed in next to your neighbours. Three miles away (a 10-minute drive or a decent stroll) from Northcote Manor Farm is the pretty village of Northlew. Get out onto footpaths and bridleways directly from the village, and then reward yourself with some food and ales in the cosy village pub. Whenever you feel ready to look a little further afield, the market town of Okehampton is a 10-minute drive away. It has supermarkets, cafés, pubs and shops, as well as a farm shop (15 minutes’ drive) with a butchers, bakery and deli. Just outside of the town (20 minutes’ drive from base) is the start of the Granite Way walking and cycling path. The edge of Dartmoor National Park, famed for its tor hikes and wild ponies, is 10 minutes’ drive away from the site.
