Herons Park Campsite

Mi è piaciuto The pitches was very spacious we was on pitch 33, washing up station was clean also the shared fridge n freezer was clean as well! The showers and toilets was cleaned through out the day by the staff and the lock system was great on the doors! The shop was great and we hired the firepit which was brilliant the kids loved toasting marshmallows!! Loads of room for the kids to play and fly the kite too! All staff we met over the 4 days we was there was absolutely fantastic and they work so hard bless! We had a great stay and would definitely come back!!

Mi è piaciuto We really enjoyed our time here, loads to see and do in the area.
The site staff were very friendly and helpful in booking three pitches together for us, and helped with some first aid bandaging my granddaughters finger when she had an accident.

Mi è piaciuto Lovely site, facilities were clean and tidy. Staff were lovely. Use of fridge handy. Some good dog walks as well - great during the day!

Non mi è piaciuto Noise - it was so loud! We fully understand campsite noise, and such however, this really let a lovely campsite down.

Although on the website it says go karts are there on event days - the karts were going all weekend from before 0800 until the evening.

Additionally, the level of noise from the wedding they held, until late with the guests then leaving - not quietly - I might add.

On our final night; big Lorrie’s turned up as they were filming into the early hours and then leaving in the early hours.

The facilities were clean, the toilets were good - however they were being cleaned for nearly 2 hours. Whilst I appreciate cleaning takes time, there’s no other facilities to use..

Dal gestore: Thank you for the positive comments about the site. Sorry we did not meet your expectations. I would like to address a couple of points. We are surrounded by a couple of businesses that are independent from us. We do mention both on our website to make guests aware so people can make their own judgement on weather our site is suitable for them or not. A majority of our guests do not have an issue with either. Iv'e never know the Karts to start so early so not sure why that was the case this weekend. In reference to the filming, it was a small production and there were no lorries, only a couple of vans which are smaller than a motorhome and I had asked them to leave quietly and be respectful. We didn't have any other complaints about these. Cleaning does take a while at times and we want to keep our facilities clean for our guests, when the wardens are cleaning they do not shut the toilets and showers down, only the ones they are cleaning at the time so an alternative would be available such as the family room or disabled. Thank you for your comments though, where we can we will make changes.

Mi è piaciuto Super friendly staff. Useful shop. I think the closest you can camp to Dungeness so is great for visiting. Interesting area to walk/run/explore around the site- managed by Nature England with interesting birds/botany/wildlife. Useful for early morning dog walk. Plenty of dog poo bins. Managed to see the sun come up which was lovely and the site was super peaceful first thing in the morning. Facilities well maintained and very clean.

Non mi è piaciuto There is a venue on site that hosts events and it is next door to a go kart attraction so be aware that this is not a peaceful break style site. There was a private disco/party that was on all night we were there-so ear plugs were essential for sleep or just imagine you are at a festival! In some ways not all bad and did give the site a good atmosphere but may not suit everyone. Pitches are very close together and so privacy meant we didn't open the windows and doors on our tent as we had close neighbours on all four sides. Also queues at the toilet for the women as only two loos and 2 showers (although there was a separate family facility).

The venue stops music at midnight so maybe it was another camper that had music on and was disrespecting the quite hours? They are not licensed to go on all night so definitely cant have been the venue. Hopefully we will see you again though :)

Non mi è piaciuto Not many toilet cubicles or showers. Pitches are quite tightly packed in places.
Dungeness power station and power lines are a bit of a blot on the landscape, but not the sites fault. Water sports centre close by and go-kart track.

Non mi è piaciuto "The toilets" only 2 toilets per male/female which were contained within the shower block, access gained by using key fob, which is annoying if you walk all the way and forget it ! like I did.

The campsite is layed out in square plots which are numbered, you are allocated your number on arrival so have no choice where you pitch. This was unfortunate for us we were camped next to a party of 3 tents that were really loud up until midnight and beyond, even though it states a 8pm- 8am quiet zone.

The other people in the campsite I'd say were mainly locals that used the site for a weekend "get drunk & let the kids run riot round everyone else tent " escape.

There is a function room next to campsite which is used for venues such as a prom which was on when we were there, this was very sweet, however it did make it very busy, noisy and difficult to navigate through people get to the damntoilet! And forgot my fob again!!

There is also a go- cart track next to campsite, which thankfully wasn't in use that day, I can only imagine the noise, which has been mentioned on some previous reviews.

No pubs or hot food within walking distance, a drive into Lydd would be needed.

"The weather" it was predicted thunderstorms for that evening and by god did we get a thunderstorm it was torrential, this of course in no way could be the campsite owners fault.......

I had contracted a chest infection few days before and the damp and rain was making my chest feel really bad, I felt really ill so decided to pack up what we could and leave.

The next day I asked the campsite due to the circumstances could they please take the tent down ( it was an easy 10 minute job as a new kind of pop up tent) and I would collect and pay for the extra nights stay.
They agreed to do this then somewhere along the line said that didn't like touching other peoples tents and it was now classed as fly tipping and a £50 fee was payable!
I was shocked 😧 but agreed as I'd left it there.
Then I had another message stating that the tent had now blown away and was beyond repair.
So I messaged back saying well what now then ?and got a barrage of words back from manager saying you are a lier you never intended to come back for the tent bla bla la. Well as god's my witness I was going to go back and sort it out with him.
It wouldn't have hurt him to just help me out I was there alone with my 16 yr old daughter.
Key fobs for toilets!!!! Don't forget to return to box on departure as these will be charged at £5 each lost fob, and the way he has the payment plan set up online for it, suggests this happens a lot.

Dal gestore: We were expecting this after you told our owner to ‘give her head a wobble’ and promised to
leave a bad review, however we were not expecting your review to be quite so far from what
actually happened.
You booked your stay the day before you checked-in, despite in your own words already
having a chest infection and rain being forecast. The day you were supposed to check out
staff saw you had left your tent and some items behind and had damaged our grass.
Staff called you, and you asked us to take the tent down and bin it. When we explained there
would be a charge for this, you offered to return to remove the tent, and we agreed. You then
changed the date of collection to Monday, meaning our pitch was out of use for another
night, at a cost to us. When Monday arrived, you cancelled, and suggested no further
arrangements. Unfortunately, by this point the tent was damaged by the weather and was
full of water, which we suggest is the reason you abandoned it in the first place. It was clear
you wouldn’t be coming, so we took the tent down and informed you that there would be a
fee as per our terms and conditions. It was at this point you became rude and informed us
you would be leaving a bad review.
To your other comments, you are correct that fobs are needed to access our toilets, which
prevents non-campers from using the facilities that campers are paying for. We do charge
for lost fobs, which covers the cost of replacing them. We are not sure that we can be held
responsible for you continually forgetting your fob.
You mention an 8pm-8am quiet zone but you are mistaken, our quiet hours are between
11pm-8am, as stated at check in and on our rules. If you expect guests to be quiet after 8pm
then of course you will be disappointed, as we do allow people to enjoy their holiday.
Regardless, if noise issues are reported to our wardens we are happy to address them, but
you did not mention noise issues either the night of your stay or when speaking with us
since, so we can only assume this has come up now in an effort to leave a negative review.
The go-karts you say yourself weren’t even in use the weekend that you stayed, so again it
seems strange to bring them up when they did not disrupt your stay.
Regarding food nearby, Lydd has pub and takeaway options which will deliver to the
campsite and is around 1.5 miles away, or a 30 minute walk away. We are in a beautiful rural
setting which is made clear on our website.
To your comment about locals, we are very proud of welcoming people from all walks of life
at our site. We have guests from as far away as Hong Kong and Columbia, and as close as
Lydd and Folkestone stay with us. The only guests we are not happy to welcome are guests
who disregard our rules and are rude to our staff, so it seems you will be better suited at a
different business.
Finally, if your tent was so easy to put down as you say, then why did you leave it for our
staff to do instead of putting it down yourself when you left like all our other guests? It is
interesting that you used the words ‘fly tipping’ as we never used this term, but it is clear you
know that it is not acceptable.
In any event, it is obvious that your review is vindictive and based on your irritation at being
asked to pay the fee and not a true reflection of our site. After reading our other excellent
reviews we are sure customers will be able to come to their own conclusions about whether
your comments are fair, or not.

Mi è piaciuto Great place to stay if you like active sport. The near by lake with water sports and carting race track a stone throw away. This not a place to stay if you are after peaceful and quiet nature…

Non mi è piaciuto Can get quite noisy with the party venue next door.
