The Campsite at Nicky Nook

Mi è piaciuto The lake nearby and the walks nearby.

Non mi è piaciuto The grass was so long, and people don’t pick up their dogs poo. Nettles and loooooads of those prickly little plants. Kids got stung a few times just running around.

Dogs off lead running up to my dog who was on lead.
Walking past a tent at night time and another off lead dog ran towards my 5 year old growling!!!

The play area is about half a mile away through the forest so kids can’t go without an adult.

The cafe which is also half a mile away, is massively overpriced.
The toilets where disgusting, no up keep at all, poo and wee all over them. No running water to wash hands.

No running water to wash pots.

There was barbed wire hanging off the dead tree in the middle.

The owner was friendly enough when he came to give wrist bands. And the people on the lake who you rent paddle boards from were very good with my daughter!

All in all I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend sorry.

Mi è piaciuto Big field, plenty of space ( not surprisingly not many booking as the owner and Marshalls were not polite in the slightest)

Non mi è piaciuto Toilets were inhumane 3 days of disgusting, over flowing porta loo's with no running water to wash your hands! I refused to use the on site loos on the last day they were so unhygienic! The staff and owner were beyond rude! Owners words after a disagreement with another family on the site were ' my estate is larger than you can imagine' basically we were just all below him who was camping on his own site! You cannot park near your pitch and its an up hill track with your full equipment from the car!! Unnecessary stress added! Play area is falsely advertised as this is on the other site through a path and gate children have to be supervised pretty far from your pitch so the whole family has to go! The access gate to this is also closed at 5pm! Would never return or recommend!

Non mi è piaciuto The grass was very tall and had many thorns, and I also couldn't use the lake. I took my boat and wasn't allowed to put it in the water. I was extremely disappointed. I thought this was absurd.

Mi è piaciuto The site is a beautiful site with a fantastic stand up paddle board experience available to those with an adventurous side. I'd highly recommend having a go but there is a great little viewing platform for those who just want to watch. The staff are fantastic and really did help the kids and I have an enjoyable stay.

Non mi è piaciuto The campsite facilities are a little bit lacking but this is more than accounted for in the price. I'd say this site bridges the gap between full facility camping and wild camping.
