Launched in 2026, Walberswick Camping is found in one of Suffolk’s prettiest villages, just 50 yards from one of the UK’s best beaches. Neatly tucked between the River Blythe, sand dunes and the sea, the site offers a splendid mix of beach life and countryside charm… It’s just two hours’ drive from London, 20 minutes from Southwold, and 15 minutes from Aldeburgh. You can also access the pitches across the Blythe via the traditional Southwold ferry. Set nicely away from the coastal crowds for family holidays, the site has all that you need close by. It’s less than five minutes’ walk from a couple of pubs – one Michelin-starred and serving some of the best food in Suffolk – a deli selling freshly baked bread, pastries and fair-trade coffee, and a playground to keep younger kids happy. Behind the village is Dunwich Forest, one of the largest wooded areas in the UK, handy for long walks and spotting deer under the peaceful tree canopy. Kids can try crab fishing in the creeks, and you can all go exploring your coastal surroundings or simply relax and admire the sea views from your pitch. As night falls, swap campfire stories – local folklore dictates that a mythical Black Dog haunts these parts… a tale that’s been whispered for generations.

Apprezzato per la posizione incantevole, vicino a spiaggia e villaggio. Staff cordiale. Alcuni lodano piazzole spaziose e buone strutture, altri le trovano basiche, con problemi a portaloos, docce e terreno. Costo elevato per alcuni.

Mi è piaciuto Great location with brilliant views out to sea.
Kind and friendly guy who works the gate , cleans the toilet, showers etc .
Hopefully to be used as a permanent site eventually , not sure what the owners have planned for the site , believe it’s the first year .
I’m sure it will be very popular

Mi è piaciuto Beautiful view set in a beautiful village.

Non mi è piaciuto At last, a campsite in walberswick where we have been visiting for decades, but what a shame. There was not a pitch available for our campervan on the first night but the very helpful Raoul moved us to a good pitch with a sea view for the second. But the facilities were a let down, a shambolic collection of huts and water bowsers and gas bottles and bins and pipes and endless crowd control type barriers used for fencing all around the site. Hundreds of posts with ropes sectioning off the pitches and non camping areas. A real eyesore that resembled a junk yard. The showers delivered hot water but were crudely built with unhygienic timber surfaces in places and the washing up stations had only cold water from broken or loose taps. The big let down however were the portaloos which by Sunday evening were humming with smell. Portaloos are for festivals and building sites. I know this is only a seasonal site, but there is no excuse for facilities this poor at a premium price

Mi è piaciuto It’s a beautiful experience being so close to the sea. (We were on the small pitch by the sea). We needed to use the wheel barrow provided to transport our tent to the site -Which really reflects the type of air it is. The addition of a fresh water shower was appreciated. The site is small and quiet, a unique camping space with delightful scenery and friendly atmosphere. A place where it’s easy to feel the beauty of creation.

Non mi è piaciuto The porter-loos although better than nothing, really bring the rating of this experience down. We ended up using the community toilets in the village.
Also the access onto the bridge and off the bridge with the wheelbarrow was really tricky as such a big step up.

First stop for nature-lovers might be the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve (five minutes’ drive), where heathland, marshes, dunes and woodland meet the coast. The area is criss-crossed with walking trails – look out for muntjac and Chinese water deer as you stroll. You can also be on Walberswick beach in 15 minutes’ amble, or wander for miles along the Blythe or Dunwich rivers. Wherever you stroll, try to end up at Old Hall Southwold Café (15 minutes) for a warming hot chocolate. Cross the River Blythe to Southwold (20 minutes) to tour the artisan brewery, hike along the beach to the landmark Water Clock or eat fish and chips on the pier. Further south along the coast is Aldeburgh (half an hour), where you can often catch concerts at Snape Maltings. Take the kids to float mini-yachts on Southwold Boating Lake (20 minutes), or test their ingenuity at Southwold Maize Maze (15 minutes and seasonal). Most youngsters will love the idea of camel rides at the Camel Park Oasis (half an hour, also seasonal), and you can easily prevent boredom setting in on any rainy days by working through puzzles at the Suffolk Escape Room (25 minutes).
