Fens, farmland and fruit trees lie in wait at Wellwood Farm, a quiet site with pretty panoramas and open-air times in spades – the flat agricultural landscape around this Lincolnshire working farm makes great terrain for outdoor activities like birdwatching or cycle tours around quiet country lanes… It's a frill-free setup at this peaceful adults-only site – guests have access to a toilet and a mains water supply. Couples and groups looking for a break in green and grassy Lincolnshire are welcome to settle down on these well-maintained and spacious grounds, and well-behaved dogs are also allowed to tag along too. Numbers are always kept fairly low, so there's invariably plenty of space on the large pitching field. There are also games on site, including clock golf, boules and outdoor dominoes. As far as food is concerned, feel free to cook your own over a barbecue (drive 10 minutes to the local farm shop if you're looking to buy some fresh meat and veg). You can also head to nearby villages if you fancy taking a break from prepping meals – this site's owners particularly recommend the pub grub on offer in Billinghay and Digby and the Indian restaurant in nearby North Kyme (all of which, handily, are about a five-minute drive away). Further afield – but not too much further, mind you – are top attractions like historic Lincoln (30 minutes), the wide open spaces of Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape (from 35 minutes) and classic seaside towns like Skegness (about an hour).

Mi è piaciuto Quiet little site. Super friendly owners remembered me from last visit.
Nice clean facilities.

Out the way but not too far to Coningsby or Waddington.
Typhoon jets can sometimes be seen from here but not noisy.
Did have 2 A400 planes pass over at 300ft but again. Not noisy and a bonus for me!
Open flat land provides good sunset.

It's more of a warning for when heading to the site.
The road outside looks like a nice straight flat 60mph country road.
It's got a very hidden (although now temporary signed) bump just outside the campsite.
Nothing to do with the campsite but if you hit it at any kind of speed then you'll be contacting local Air traffic control.
Go slow on approach!

Mi è piaciuto It was honestly just peace and bliss - the sunsets, sunrises and stars at night are like nothing else. To be able to wake up and unzip your tent and look out across the stubble field see all of that is very rare.
The site is beautifully kept, and owners very welcoming. I even got invited for a cup of tea in the sun with them before I hit the road. Best camping experience yet

Mi è piaciuto Lovely site, exactly as advertised, huge pitches, lovely hosts, came away with apples and plums, very quiet with only occasional traffic noise, nice hot shower (coin operated), advertised as no frills but in our opinion absolutely perfect (it's no hardship to boil a kettle to wash up at your pitch, you're camping after all), considering it was harvest time and a fleet of lorries left and returned we never heard a thing, hats off to the hosts, a perfectly well run site with absolute consideration for guests at all times, will definitely return.

There's many a historic spot to be inspected in this part of eastern England, whether that involves hunting out heritage at 15th-century Tattershall Castle (15 minutes' drive), steering your squadron towards Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (30 minutes) or gallivanting through the Victorian gardens of the Gunby Estate (45 minutes). Get your fix of shops and cobbled city streets in Lincoln (30 minutes), where highlights include the Cathedral Quarter, Usher Gallery and remains of the Roman South Wall. Grownup groups may also appreciate a trip to Boston (30 minutes), where there's impressive architecture to admire like St Botolph’s Church and Maud Foster Mills, a 25-metre-tall windmill where you can still watch fresh flour being ground twice weekly.
