Mi è piaciuto Beautiful accommodation, beautiful surroundings. Lovely hosts. The carriages have been extremely well converted and have all you need. Love the extra touches, eggs and milk on arrival. The book about the conversion. The fun facts booklets. Fresh flowers on the table. Food for the bird table and binoculars. Very central location for all the forest of dean has to offer. We will definitely return.

Non mi è piaciuto The only thing was the 35° which noone could have foreseen. Perhaps a paddling pool and a hose pipe for cooling down 🤣

Mi è piaciuto What a perfect place to stay. Impeccably clean throughout with so many homely touches. The shepherd’s hut is located in a very peaceful location which is very private with beautiful views.

- The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook meals, with everything being spotlessly clean.

- A lovely sitting area with a very comfortable sofa.

- Two smart TVs. (These were not used during our stay, but still a great luxury for those who like to watch their favourite TV shows, or if you’re having a winter break and want to cosy up watching a film.)

- Some board games and books to have a peruse through during your stay.

- Spotlessly clean bathroom with a storage cupboard for toiletries. The shower also has good water pressure and the hot water is almost instant!

- Great amounts of storage throughout with an ottoman bed for storing cases and bags out of the way.

- Very comfortable bed with thoughtful side tables, plug sockets and reading lamps (Carol and Will really have thought of everything).

- Lots of windows to let fresh air blow through which really made it feel more pleasant and airy.

- Great character as the hut is made of converted railway carriages with lots of original features. There’s even a book showing the work Carol and Will did renovating/transforming them.

- The picnic table outside is a great addition for sitting out with a BBQ or to have your breakfast and morning coffee.

- It was great to meet the owners and chat about the great work they’ve achieved. Could have easily sat for a while with a cup of tea and chatted! Likewise, they are very respectful of privacy and will leave you undisturbed if you’re wanting that quiet getaway.

Carol and Will have thought of everything and all the attention to detail really make this a memorable and unbeatable experience. There’s not many places within the first hour or two of checking in that you already know you want to book and stay again - but this certainly is one!

Mi è piaciuto Reading the reviews in the guest book (several people returning again and again) made us realise how lucky we were to be able to book. This is a pretty, cosy, exceptionally clean railway carriage with great cooking facilities and a very comfortable double bed.
It was lovely watching the wildlife and looking at the views and sunsets in the evenings. We had a great walk to Symonds Yat and along the Wye one day, and a lovely walk through the forest on another - we saw a deer and her young! Even the walk to the local pub takes you through some very pretty forest!

Mi è piaciuto I stayed here with my sister for two nights. We hiked locally and we shared the good size double bed. It was an idyllic rural retreat close to local walks in the Forest of Dean. We were made to feel welcome. The accommodation was private, in its own area of land with parking for two vehicles. It felt safe, secure, private and peaceful. We were self-catering and shared the food preparation. There was a choice to eat inside or outside, with excellent rural views.

The kitchen and dining area were equally set up for cooking from scratch if you wanted to, or heating up ready meals. The fridge/freezer was an adequate size for two people on a weekend stay. There were also ample recycling bins in a closed container near the parking area.

The whole place felt surprisingly spacious for easy living. Everything had been carefully thought out before we arrived, with heating and hot water ready. The view from the double french doors was inspiring, particularly at sunset. The WiFi signal was strong and there were two TVs (bedroom and living area).

Welcoming host who met us and showed us around the property. Left eggs (from her hens) and a pint of milk.
