We have a maximum amount of pitches for non-electric due to the amount of toilets and showers which means that there is a lot of space to spread out.
The traffic can be noisy at times which is unfortunate.
As well as the Brewers Fayre, Shires Oast(similar walking distance) is open for food and drinks from 11am until 9pm on the weekends that they do not have private functions.

The massive let down was by female member staff ( not Sue) who needs lesson in customer service and how to talk to people with a bit of respect. Screamed at little children playing ball by their tents ( not mine by the way ),instead of just saying oh you need to play in the fields opposite. Although tbf wouldn't of mattered as hardly any one there.
Then goes hammering round on a tractor at 10pm telling people it's 10pm no noise ( another new thing never been issue before) but do get that OK things change but there are far better ways to talk to people, instead of becoming aggressive and rude and threatening and saying if you don't like tell management and we make sure you can't come back. Only reason we see our stay out was ,I was not upsetting my children by taking them home as they had been looking forward to hop farm ( they chose hop farm over going to family camp with their cub group )
I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay this time and will not be returning.
There are long term plans regarding the unused static caravans and farm.
It is not possible to control what goes on outside of the campsite and having direct access to the river the general public can walk through at any time.
We do not allow ball games on the electric fields (signs as you enter them) because the pitches are close together and we have had numerous complaints in the past from guests worried about damage to their vehicles and property. It would appear it must have been a guest who screamed at children near their pitch. The field did become busy as it was a Bank Holiday.
For health and safety when it is getting dark or dark it is safer for children to be by their tents/caravans not on a field across the road where cars/vans etc.. come and go until late at night not observing the 5MPH speed limit.
We came out at 10pm on the gator to check the whole of the campsite as we have always done since being here(unfortunately not an electric one) and asked for your children to be at your camp not on the field, there was no aggression, rudeness or threatening behaviour from either us or yourselves.
Shockingly bad site. Avoid like the plague

Out of 135 potential electric pitches we had 60 being occupied and in our extremely large fields where we can take 200 pitches maximum not due to space but the amount of showers and toilets that we have only 59 pitches were being used.
We do allow firepits as advertised on Pitchup when you are looking to book, if you do not have your own we have started renting them out this weekend. What is a campsite without a nice fire for cooking, toasting marshmallows and keeping you warm to be able to sit outside when it is cool?
The showers and toilets are cleaned 3 times per day and we ask guests to tidy up after themselves as much as possible.
I hope our guests that stayed here this weekend are not offended by your remarks of being like refugees and that they made you feel unsafe.
Perhaps you enjoy hotels more than camping!
