Our long stay guests are friendly and keep to themselves with the majority of them working professionals, retirees or young families. I am surprised that your wife felt threatened by them and this was not brought to our attention during your stay.
There are no additional fences apart from the ones that were erected for The Wealden Times Mid-Winter Fayre that was on whilst you stayed here. We are not aware of any clutter unless you mean the odd firepit or camping chair being used by either short or long stay guests. When checking the site we will now look into the streams in case any stray paper has been blown in there.

Late night site noise including vehicle movements 2200-0100. Site had many obvious contractor/working vans on it and these were regularly left running, possibly charging/warming up.
I am sorry you did not enjoy your 2 night stay arriving later in the evening when already dark. When looking to book on Pitch-up it does say "Throughout the year large events take place and the site is open to the public" and on The Hop Farm website there is a list of events and dates.

We do not have any contractors on site and our long stay guests who go to work usually leave between 6am and 9 am, it must have been another short stay guest having to go out or leave for an early ferry crossing.
At this time of year there are no other campsites in Kent offering electric hardstanding with grass pitches and the general use is for an overnight stay to either enjoy a walk and then a campfire,visiting family/friends locally or on route to/from a ferry port rather than as a holiday destination.

When you stayed in May the long stay guests were on a different field, however in November due to pitch conditions we only have the 1 electric field open. If there had not been any long stay guests there would have only been 2 other pitches occupied and with it getting dark early the dynamics would not have been the same as our summer months..
The wash rooms do have a working code, however if the doors are not closed properly the general public will use them, they did have 2 daily cleans and the workers setting up for The Wealden Christmas Fayre had other facilities to use.
We were visiting friends locally so might come again for that reason
