A swimming pool on site is a wonderful thing when you’re on a glamping holiday… but how about staying somewhere that’s got a grand total of four pools? Well, that’s what’s on offer at Umbria’s Tendi at Camping Il Collaccio, five minutes’ drive from Preci – as you can see, this is a place that takes the concept of relaxation rather seriously…
Those four pools (two main pools and two paddling pools – all with gorgeous mountain views) tend to be the hub of activity during the day, although basketball, tennis, boules and volleyball are also on offer if you fancy a bit more activity, and there’s a play area for the kids too.
This is a property that used to be a farm, and the owners still make their own salamis and other products – you can sample them during dinner at the gourmet restaurant if you like, or nibble on some alongside drinks at the terrace bar. They’re also for sale in the on-site shop alongside things like locally harvested truffles if you fancy creating your own meals.
You’ll have access to a kitchen with gas cooker, fridge and coffee maker if you do fancy prepping your own meals – and each tent also has a barbecue outside. The smart safari tents all have stylish interiors with beds made up ready for arrival (each tent can sleep up to four in a double bed and bunk bed).
Shared facilities include posh toilet/shower blocks, a washing-up area and a launderette, and there are water taps near every tent.

Attractions à proximité
How best to explore your Umbria surroundings? Well, you could start by taking a wander to the nearby hilltop village of Castelvecchio di Preci (five minutes’ walk) – or you could throw yourselves right into longer hikes in the Monti Sibillini National Park (10 minutes’ drive), which has forest, river and gorge scenery to explore as well as some cute villages and historic sights.
For more of that fabulous local scenery, take the cable car up to the top of Monte Bove (45 minutes), from where you can see all the way to the sea. Or, if you’re here in spring, wander through the flower-filled fields of Fioritura di Castelluccio (45 minutes). A trip to Montefalco (50 minutes) gives you views of the vineyards… and the chance to taste the wines they produce.
To take in some of the area’s history and architecture, make your way to Spoleto (45 minutes) or up to Assisi (an hour and 10 minutes), where you can visit the UNESCO-listed Basilica of Saint Francis.
