Gidleigh Wood

A aimé : Wild camp with 4x4 and rooftop tent. The best wild camp I have seen , definitely a must for the off road camper. Made to feel very welcome.

N'a pas aimé: Geen drinkwater, slechte toegangsweg, zeer schuin terrein, beheerder niet erg attent, duur (prijs per plek 25, nogal veel voor 1 persoon en weinig voorzieningen)

A aimé : Ideal to reconnect with nature on the edge of open Dartmoor moorland. Excellent hosting and looking after by Mark and his wife, they made me feel like family/friends

N'a pas aimé: Not a dislike but a personal challenge to my simple mind, to work around the gently sloped field so I didn’t roll of inside the tent 😅😁

A aimé : Lovely open space, dogs allowed to run off lead which was amazing for them. Mark really helpful with local information and able to walk straight onto dartmoor so no need to move the van. Toliet kept clean and shower even though only one there worked perfectly. Marks wife lit a amazing campfire each night and was lovely to go sit round and chat to others. Could have stayed last longer! Thankyou Mark for such a relaxed campsite

A aimé : The facilities and welcome at this campsite were great. Composting toilets were clean and well put together as was the shower and there was a large shared forepit lit for the whole campground by the hosts. The hosts were welcoming and knowledgeable and the site is dog friendly. Nearby woods are a stones throw away and make for very good walking. Thank you for a great stay!

N'a pas aimé: The site is on a bit of a slope which can be annoying and you have to remember to bring your own drinking water - as stated in the site info.

A aimé : A beautifully simple and uncomplicated campsite set in the woods. There is everything you need and nothing you don’t. The Geography locally will mean that bringing a large motorhome or caravan on site will present challenges but for a campsite that offers a real sense of remoteness and peace while not being utterly distant, this cannot be beaten. No wifi (perfect); no amenities (because you have Dartmoor); no baby change facilities (not the point of the campsite).
