Ridgeway View Campsite

A aimé : The location is absolutely perfect for my many walks in the area, both on and off the Ridgeway. This is a spacious, quiet and secluded campsite. Perfect for dog owners, as there is easy access to public footpaths.

N'a pas aimé: At £12 for a fire pit, and an additional sum for firewood, lighting a fire is rather prohibitively expensive, especially for one person.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Hi Katrina, So glad you enjoyed your stay. The cost of our firepits accounts for the hire of the firepit for your stay and a set of logs for a night, so the cost is for firepit hire + a set of logs. It is then £8 for further logs for future nights. We think this is quite reasonably priced, but you can save £2 by booking the firepit on the day, as they are £10 to book on site. We think these are reasonably priced, and we're unable to charge less as then there wouldn't be any money in them for us as a small business. The cost of wood has increased due to inflation, hence we need to charge an amount that it justifies the labour and cost of providing them, otherwise we would run at a loss. Though we always recommend bringing your own raised firepit if you don't want to hire one next time.

N'a pas aimé: Nothing but a suggestion… With a small site like that Compost loos would be great… Much more in keeping with the nature setting… Spread out over the site they wouldn’t be over used & have plenary time to compose down in the off season.

Unfortunately compost loos aren't something that would work on site, for the level of traffic we get at weekends and over the busy summer months the waste generated would be far too much for compost loos. When you stayed was outside of peak summer holiday season - across the summer holidays we often have hundreds of people on site, and compost loos wouldn't be able to handle this amount of waste without wreaking havoc in terms of smell on site. Whilst we like the idea of compost loos, they simply can't manage the volume of waste required during busier periods.

A aimé : The space, the fire pits, proximity to the ridgeway and Wallingford for the Thames. This is the second time we’ve stayed and will definitely be coming back.

N'a pas aimé: The D of E children urinating next to our tent and being very noisy ate night. The tap area gets very boggy.

I'm so sorry that the school staying on site for their D of E were so terrible, this is unacceptable behaviour and we did immediately report this to their teachers so they will be disciplined. Whilst we can't take responsibility for the behaviour of other customers on site, we do agree this is completely unacceptable. Children or not that isn't civilised behaviour!

A aimé : Lovely, peaceful and quiet campsite, I love the surrounding views and nature. Perfect location if you enjoy going for walks or cycling. There is a nice local pub approx 30 min walk from the campsite and if you like good English wine, Brightwell Vineyard is worth a visit.

A aimé : The views are splendid, and it is very quiet. We all enjoyed how simple and straightforward the entire process and campsite layout and rules were! Great value for money!

A aimé : Very peaceful site. You turn up, text a number to check in, and then choose your pitch. Portaloos and cold showers on site which are fine for a short stay. People come round to change bins and check facilities but leave you alone, which I like. The field is up away from the roads so quiet and it was an excellent site for star gazing. Shops about 10 minute drive away. Overall we had a lovely time and would come back.

A aimé : The location great views over the Oxfordshire countryside, clean amenities Toilets, and Showers, large field so room for everyone.

N'a pas aimé: The walk to the pub was 35 minutes plus
