A aimé Great welcome from Lynne and Gary. Lovely people. Proper shower and toilet room, kept immaculately clean. If you like horses, Lilling Hall farm is for you. Excellent site for visiting Castle Howard and York (do the Park & Ride, so much easier). If you love a quirky local that serves £3 pints (really), the Thompsons Arms is a 10 minute walk away.

A aimé Very quiet, good facilities, very close to village with excellent pubs. Superb walking and gorgeous scenery. Also we made a mistake as our campervan is 6.5m and we missed the messages from the campsite that clearly states max 5.0m.....but Sean allowed us to stay.Very generous of him

N'a pas aimé Small issue is that there is only one shower. Caused no problems for us but could imagine it might be an issue when fully booked

A aimé Fantastic facilities, very clean and warm. Location very good for touring in Peak District. Pitches very good too.

N'a pas aimé Quite a way from local village so Local pub about 30 mins away...but we went twice so no big deal. Snow warning but owners didn't grit the sloping entrance to the site. My van (and others) couldn't make it out because of overnight snow/ice so had to get help from others. Shame

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thankyou for you kind review. I have taken note of your comments and will look into why the driveway wasn't gritted prior to the cold spell we had, however I'm glad you enjoyed your stay overall.

A aimé great site with plenty of space between pitches. walled garden keeps the wind out. good for Berwick. 30 mins to Lindisfarne. good pub 15 mins stroll away, Cross Inn. Fabulous grounds and great walks

N'a pas aimé Been said many times before - lack of toilets/shower facilities. one working (very modern and nice) but just not enough when busy. what's irritating is that nothing is being done about it. these complaints go back months.

A aimé Simple, no-nonsense site that doesn't pretend to be anything other than basic. Choose your own pitch, no set arrival or leave times. very easy to check in. Tackle shop is great and owner very helpful and knowledgeable. Caught loads of fish !

N'a pas aimé this place is very over-fished. If you like solitude and quiet with no other angler in site...don't come here. Toilet/shower block needs a good clean.

Réponse du gestionnaire : To the point review but will just point out it was the Queens jubilee bank holiday weekend and we have had our busiest weekend in the history of the site and were fully booked and beyond from the beginning of the year. Other regulars will tell you was an exceptional weekend and the weather did not help keeping things cleaned overall we survived it but otherwise unable to dispute what you have said.

A aimé Lovely big field (pond field). Very quiet and great walking - Chiddingstone is a nice 45 minute walk to castle and pub, and Hever Castle is a must. about an hours walk. Host super helpful and responsive.

N'a pas aimé no electric but that is clear on the website. no showers and loos are basic at best. No chemical waste for campervans etc.

A aimé Great location 1) just off the M6 so perfect to break up long journeys from north to south 2) just outside Lancaster, nice town 3) yet the site is very quiet and tranquil. Nice big pitches. Feels spacious and "CL" like. Good facilities....GREAT showers. The "check-in" was faultless. E-mail on day of arrival turned up as promised and had everything needed. Very slick. Overall, very impressed with this place.

A aimé Pretty much everything - actual site was a delight, beautiful views, good loos and shower, nice cabin with use of fridge, freezer etc. Fabulous walks all around, easy walk into village with convenience store and 2 pubs. Izaak Walton nice beer garden, Ye Olde George decent pub food. Thomas Lord in West Meon also good. Local bacon and eggs are a must - available in the cabin You will need the 25m cable ! Lisa was delightful and very helpful. Sorted out a mini problem we had immediately. Great service.

N'a pas aimé Bit of a squeeze for the washing up area. Oscar's eggs are superb....but a bit pricey. Don't be put off by these very minor dislikes - this is a lovely campsite.

A aimé Dave & Trudy were great and very helpful. Fabulous walks around, especially the coastal path 40 minutes to a good beach Griffin in Dale for good (but expensive) seafood Lobster Pot is 5 mins walk for a pint

N'a pas aimé not really a dislike as nearly all campsites are the same but we would always prefer more space between pitches. Toss up between keeping people happy vs running a business. I, for one, would be prepared to pay a few quid more for more space.
