Quirky, off the beaten track, tranquil

juill. 2025

A aimé The location, very much off the beaten track. The campervan pitches are enormous, despite being a family site, due to how spaced out the pitches are from each other, you never really heard any of the children playing. The wood fire pizzas down at the owners home (a little 5 minute walk, although 10 minutes back as it is all uphill back to the site) are fantastic, as is the builders tea and freshly ground coffee in the mornings. Location wise, great for exploring the local area, Dover, Sandwich, Deal etc. We were lucky to have a free air display from a passing Spitfire, whilst the atmosphere of the site is laid back and chilling. Love the fact those glamping and or in their own tents are not allowed to enter the camping area with their cars, therefore if camping/ glamping be prepared for a little exercise as those doing so use wheelbarrows to take their gear from the carpark to their pitch. Two field, Campervans on the upper field, love the layout with the pitches mowed out of otherwise tall grass, even the walkways are mowed out, this IMO provides and ads to the charm of the site. Facilities basic, again quirky although sufficient, whilst repeated at numerous area over the two fields, reducing an overload at one set of facilities, whilst being handy if your pitch is some distance from the car park

N'a pas aimé Compost toilet, although can understand why this site uses such, could do with more ventilation and or stronger air fresheners. The bin area was untidy, bins full whilst there were a constant buzz from wasps which congregate around the bins…. Although I accept nature is nature. Non of the aforementioned detracted from a wonderful site and stay

Camping in style travelling in style

juin 2019

A aimé This is a perfect site to relax, chill out, letting go of the day to day stresses.... From the moment we arrived Julie the host could not do enough, very informative as to the site facilities and what’s on offer in and around the area.... The site is very well presented and groomed, (Love the Lavender plants) The the pitches are very generous giving that feeling of expanse, so not to be over crowded... Ample supply of fire pits, logs and kindling can be purchased with a bundle of old newspapers available to get the fire started.... Two showers, utterly sparkling clean, toilets, just look at the mens, this was taken towards the end of the day. Outstanding.... The fact there was a choice of take away deliveries available suited us after a long day hiking, just didn’t feel like cooking, had the Chinese, good value, quality food and delivered very quick...... Noise levels at a minimum, everybody had respect for their fellow campers, the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly..... The views from the campsite are outstanding along with the sun sets.... all in all a hidden gem of a site, that knocks spots off other sites we have been too, can safely say this is back to basics camping without a feeling of gubbynes and cheap.... Julie and can’t forget Paul, (who seems to have a list of things to do longer that a best seller) are fab hosts we cannot wait to go back

N'a pas aimé None (Save we wish a weekend was 5 days not just two, which is not Julie and Paul’s fault) although if you could try and have such included within the next governments manifesto that would be a great) 😜😂

Good, but requires more re-thinking

mai 2019

A aimé The relaxed atmosphere (until dark), location, really great for getting around the test valley and new forest. Pitch sizes, the ability to forage for wood and have a camp file ( would recommend taking either a saw or large hacksaw) The owners... Kyle and George.... they couldn’t do enough, they even went around the site chatting, even helping some with putting their tents up.... The information provided for the site and surrounding area.... really recommend the Bear and Ragged Staff about 5 miles from the campsite, great food and service... Morrison’s in Totton is only 10 mins direct drive so really good for supplies..... a really back to basics camp site that allows you to enjoy your camping, plenty of room, the owners do not and even discourage tents being erected too close to each other on the grass pitch with the cars for those in the forest pitches parked neatly in a row on the edge of the grass pitch area

N'a pas aimé Toilet and shower facilities, Uni sex may work in France, although in France the size of the toilet / shower facilities would be far greater..... Whilst the owner do there best to keep such clean, with on three toilets and one shower cubicle to 120 campers this makes life a little uncomfortable..... Another toilet block and shower is desperately required... Now to the dislike that the owners need to try and address... Upon arrival, we were the second of tents to arrive on the Friday, the young lad from the tent already there was good enough to say he had a dog and that such was friendly, not a problem, the problem for us was his incessant wish to wield his axe at any tree trunk laying upon the ground, to which there was a constant noise of him hacking at wood. His fire was out of control as to the amount of smoke it generated... Then he came to me suggesting he had some “top notch cannabis” would I like some... I refused.... On the last night at 2 in the morning this lad and his partner began to argue, an argument that resulted in both physically and verbally abusing each other, resulting in the lad, who had consumed copious amounts of alcohol, jumping in his 4x4 driving off...... the aftermath and debate was conducted in the middle of the field between the owners and remaining female thereafter ..... for all to hear.... The night before a group of lads on a ‘stag do’ were repeatedly told to quiet down, being ejected from the site the morning after... The camp is an adult only site... in my mind, that is 25 above, the average 21 year old struggles to understand the concept of manners, camping etiquette, self constraint and how to conduct themselves..... don’t get me wrong, I’ve been there, although never have I involved 118 people in my domestic affairs...... It was evident from day one this couple would be trouble.... If the site wishes to survive, in my opinion attracting the right sort of client, they need too: - 1. Employ more staff, 2 people will, which is evident, be unable to run a site this size successfully 2. Employ a stricter, policing policy, yes it’s great to have relaxed rules, although living in a democratic society, some intolerance to certain behaviour must be applied 3. Increase the age limit to 25 4. Remove the invitation of Stag and Hen do’s, there are more recreational campers out there who will fill your pitches Have put would not recommend and would not return, unless changes made, which is a shame as up until 2am on the third night we had had a great weekend and were considering returning late July

Réponse du gestionnaire : Hello. Thank you for your feedback and we apologise for the bad experiance you had while staying with us. Unfortunately we are a working farm and only allow camping for 28 days of the year. This means that employing staff and increasing our facilities are sadly not a an option for us. We have a zero tolerance to illegal substances and had the incident involving yourself and the person in question had been raised to us at that time they would have been removed from the site. Unfortunately because it was raised with us after they had left we were sadly unable to deal with this matter. Domestic disagreements are always very difficult to deal with and as soon as we were informed of the situation we did everything we could to resolve the matter and reduce the impact to the other guests. From the moment of us being informed to the couple being seperated and the impact reduced to other campers was achieved within 30 minutes. I apologise again if you think we should have dealt with this matter differently we did what we thought would reduce the impact to other guests as quickly as possible. (Which is difficult when the lady in question was hysterical) Thank you for the suggestion of increasing the age limit to 25 and stopping stag and hens along with groups. however we we have very few issues throughout our 28 days. Any issues we have had previously has been with people of a variety of ages and a variety of group sizes. We very rarely have any problems with groups, stag dos and hen dos and we are not always told that they are so which was the case with the group that was ejected from the site. The other 8 groups (ranging from 11 people to 6 people) caused us no problems at all and were pleasant and a delight to have. We hope you reconsider your decision to not visit again but do understand if our site isn't for you. Regards Kylie

Great little site hich puts a lot of sites in teh shade

oct. 2018

A aimé This is a gem of a site.... From the moment we arrived, Julie and Paul were welcoming hosts, Julie explained how the campsite works insisting that the attitude was all about being chilled out and relaxed. Found a pitch, in fact apart from a couple who left later that day, we were the only tent on site until Saturday evening. The facilities, minimal although very well kept and more than adequate…Took a small walk through the wooded area at the rear of the campsite where the fishing ponds are located….. relaxing and well worth a visit to sit and take in the quietness….. The Fire pits are a great addition, plenty of dry logs and kindling can be purchased on site, they even supply dry newspapers to help get the fire going…. One thing we did like was the fact the local Indian Takeaway delivers to the site, which on the Saturday when it lashed it down, was welcoming. Hats of too Julie and Paul, nothing was a problem, they assisted us with all our requests …… a well, small, groomed and pleasant relaxing campsite and great value….. We cannot wait to go back next year Thanks

N'a pas aimé Having to put the tent down..... Roll on the next visit

A great place, will be back, once teh grass is cut

août 2018

A aimé Again, this being the second time we have stayed at this site, a wonderful experience, a great base to get out an explore..... We went to Battle which is such a lovely town and well worth the drive out..... A must is also the Bluebell Vineyard opposite the campsite....

N'a pas aimé Long Grass, I have noted the excuse is to use the wet grass as a fire break, its more of a fire hazard, its uncomfortable at firs with the tent sitting proud of the grass and walking to the toilet block becomes an adventure as you become saturated early morning and evening due to the wet grass, in addition to the grass being so long its a struggle to walk through...….. Please cut the grass..... Also the rubbish situation, I appreciate your previous comments, save, you must have a contractor come to the farm, therefore allow your campers to leave the rubbish at the farm, the Vineyard must have a contractor to remove their rubbish?? The dustbin lorry's call at the private houses on the lane as there is evidence of wheelie bins outside the houses

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your review. I topped the field at the beginning of the week but it is growing like mad since the rain of last week followed a few warm days again, a tough call as in the dew the mowed grass becomes a nuisance being walked into tents and toilets and causes more complaints, a pair of wellies maybe advisable for the chillier / dewey nights? No one has a cleansing lorry come down the lane other than the domestic dustmen who obviously will not take commercial rubbish. We have asked other remote campsites what they do and they also ask people to take their rubbish home with them so we are not alone in asking. It is something we are trying to resolve but as lorries get bigger they are unable to turn from a single track lane into a field gateway.

We arrived on Friday until the…

août 2018

A aimé We arrived on Friday until the Sunday. Checking in was excellent although bear in mind to take along cash with you if you want to buy anything from the farm shop as the shop is unattended. Grab your own pitch which we took at the bottom left of the field although despite the good weather we have had it was a little damp. Beautiful surroundings, basic but very well maintained and clean shower facilities but are minimal. Could do with another shower & toilet block. Birds, chickens & cows were lovely to see throughout the day. Great location for going out to explore, Lewes being only 12 miles away. Rather than having to take home your own rubbish and reclying, would benefit from having bins. Would highly recommend & we will be back.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your lovely review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay. We've been unable to secure a cleansing contract this year as we're down a single track lane, this is something that we will endeavor to have back in place by next season. Sorry for any inconvenience. We hope to welcome you again in the future.
