A aimé This was my second stay at Cayo Retreat, having first visited last year, and I knew I had to come back for my birthday. My first experience was exceptional, so before we arrived I had already told the rest of the group how beautiful the site was and how welcoming our host, John, would be. I had set the bar incredibly high, yet somehow everyone’s experience still exceeded expectations. The campsite is perfectly situated opposite the Black Mountains, creating an incredible backdrop throughout the day. One of the highlights was watching the moon rise from behind the mountains in the evening, it really is a special moment. The field is spacious enough for everyone to spread out, and we enjoyed games of badminton and frisbee without feeling crowded. The yurts are spacious, cosy, and surprisingly luxurious for a camping experience. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the soft, fluffy blankets made for one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had while camping. The facilities are excellent too. Having a washing-up station made cleaning up after our barbecue quick and easy, and the toilets and other facilities were spotless throughout our stay, which really added to the overall comfort. What truly makes Cayo Retreat stand out, though, is the host, John. From the moment we arrived, he was friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. His hospitality genuinely makes the experience even more enjoyable, and it’s easy to see why everyone in our group thought so highly of him. I couldn’t recommend Cayo Retreat more highly. Whether you’re looking to spend quality time with family or friends, enjoy the stunning surroundings, or simply experience a unique camping stay, this is a fantastic place to visit. We’ll definitely be back again.
