A aimé Spacious, relaxed, and clean campsite, good facilities. Pitch where you like. Attractive peaceful setting with a water meadow and stream on one side and wooded hills in the distance. Some good walks to be had from the campsite.

A aimé spacious piches between the apple trees, option to have a fire, close to the Brecon Beacons national park, great showers and washing facilities, nature trail onsite

N'a pas aimé there is some road noise, but it quietens down in the evening and at night.

A aimé Great location just outside Croyde village, sea views, close to good walks along the coast. Plenty of space, chilled out atmosphere, well kept campsite, well thought out and welcoming. Superb showers.

A aimé Friendly relaxed campsite with superb views over Devon hills. Some good walks immediately from the campsite.

A aimé Peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Great large flat field with a few magnificent old oak trees, and surrounded by Exmoor hills. Plenty of space, camp wherever you like, and some very good walks directly from the campsite. Welcoming owner, and well looked after campsite. Would come again!

A aimé Quiet peaceful campsite with great views over Exmoor hills and to the Bristol Channel. A simple campsite with a couple of clean portaloos and a couple of cold water taps in a large field. Just what I was looking for; somewhere to relax and connect with nature. Some good walks immediately from the campsite in surrounding hills and woodlands. Owner provided logs at £5 per bag. Wonderful sunsets with a big orange ball sinking down over the horizon.

A aimé Quiet location away from main roads. Nice countryside. Communal shelter, lounge area. Informal, relaxed.

N'a pas aimé Showers went cold after 30 seconds of warmth.! I tried both showers, and both were like this.

A aimé Nicely landscaped campsite, surrounded in many attractive trees. Decent shower. Some nice views of rolling hills to the south. Car free camping area.

N'a pas aimé Overhead power line runs across campsite. Some background A38 traffic noise in late evening and early morning. In view of fact that it's a fairly expensive campsite, paying extra for each shower doesn't feel right. Smart washing up area, but didn't use it as no hot water. A noisy high powered drone was flying above campsite one evening for over 10 minutes, no idea who was responsible for it.

Réponse du gestionnaire : On arrival you were offered the choice of where to pitch you could of had a field all to yourself with uninterrupted views to the south west,your choice. For those unaccustomed to the peace and quiet of the countryside the slightest noise can travel a long way, most of the time all you can hear is bird song the rustle of leaves from the poplar trees and the occasional moo from the neighbours cows. I don’t think we are expensive if you take into account we offer the exclusivity of only 10 pitches over 2 acres. It is illegal to fly drones over private land without permission.I am sorry if there was one, I was here all weekend and didn’t see or here anything and never have done before.

A aimé Spacious campsite with good views all around. Generally quiet and peaceful, other than occassional background sound of planes taking off from nearby Bristol airport, but this is in the distance and not overhead. Relaxed feel, pitch where you like. Good facilities, with excellent showers. Welcoming, friendly owner.

A aimé Easy stopping point on long journey, to have a short rest and shower etc.

N'a pas aimé Crowded, limited space. Guests packed in like sardines in a can. Very significant traffic noise ( motorway traffic I assume) . It would be impossible for me to have a good night's sleep here. Appeared to be a number of permanent residents, one of whom was working on his deisel car; engine running for a full hour non stop, with exhaust fumes wafting across the campsite!

A aimé Spacious field with wonderful view towards Dartmoor. Relaxed pitch where you like vibe. Friendly owners. Well away from busy roads, so quiet and very peaceful at night.

N'a pas aimé Poor quality push button showers which alternate between cold and tepid, no pleasure in using them.

A aimé Spacious unmarked pitches. Nice powerful shower.

N'a pas aimé Wasn't as quiet as I had hoped due to motor racing at nearby motor racing circuit, with constant sound of high revving engines throughout the day (Saturday) Toilet/shower area seems to lack ventilation, has a very stiff front door, and has a lot of flaking paint from an old wall.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Hi Nick I am sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with your stay here at Buttles Farm. When I greeted you on your arrival, I did explain that we are a hideaway site and that the facilities are simple. I do try to keep everywhere clean and tidy, and I think if you look around some of the other reviews most people value that. As a hideaway site we don't offer play parks etc.and my listing does clearly state we don't offer those things. We have a large field where kids can explore and run freely. So I am not sure if it is fair to give me a low mark for child friendliness. In fact my son recently shared his football net and a board game with a guest as it was raining a lot. Of course value is subjective but I feel and other reviewers agree that our location and a rather pretty field with wildlife all around is a lovely way to enjoy camping in the SW. Regards Carl

A aimé Attractive natural surroundings of hills and beautiful trees. Very pleasant campsite, mostly quiet except for occasional farm traffic. Ready made large fire pits with encircling wooden benches. Good shower /toilet/ washing up facilities. No cars allowed on camping field makes for a much safer and more relaxed camping experience.

A aimé Very friendly and welcoming owner. Good base for exploring north Dartmoor and visiting Okehampton. Plenty of hot water for washing up/washing.

N'a pas aimé Camping/touring field is very compact, and with more than 4 pitches would feel crowded. Significant road noise from adjacent A386, which is pretty much continuous all through the day until late evening.

A aimé Great location overlooking Devon hills of forest, farmland and big open sky. Friendly and relaxed site. Peaceful with no traffic noise. Lovely walks on doorstep.
