Germany or Luxembourg? Luxembourg or Germany? Grab yourselves a bit of both, with a stay at Country Camp at Echternacherbruck. This lively glamping site is in fact in Germany – but only just. It’s right on the banks of the Sûre river, which marks the border between the two countries, so you can dip in and out of both – it's only a few minutes' walk to either Echternach (Luxembourg) or Echternacherbrück (Germany)…
Those two towns aren’t the only places you can walk to easily from here, as the site is on the edge of the South Eifel nature park – and that means plenty of hiking trails and cycle routes nearby. That said, you can also soak up the scenery right here on site – there’s a good kilometre of river frontage where you can relax, perhaps taking a dip in the river if you need to cool off.
The rental tents here are well equipped, with beds, a kitchen and indoor and outdoor furniture provided, and spacious shared bathroom blocks close by. A bistro and beer garden are on hand if you don't feel like cooking (or you just need a cool beer) and there are plenty of shops and places to eat in both the neighbouring towns.
And there's plenty of entertainment on hand too – the site has a swimming pool (with aqua gym and water polo sessions in high season), a paddling pool, beach volleyball, pétanque and table tennis – and there's tennis and miniature golf close by too.
Lots for the kids? Absolutely. On top of the three playgrounds and clubhouse (with air hockey, darts and a big TV) there’s a good programme of organised activities for them in the summer months.

Attractions à proximité
When the kids aren’t engrossed in the various activities on site, take them out to one of the nearby attractions – perhaps to meet the model dinos at Dinosaurierpark Teufelsschlucht (10 minutes' drive), see underwater life at Wasserbillig Aquarium (20 minutes) or look out for colourful beasts at the Butterfly Garden in Grevenmacher (20 minutes), a town that's also a good spot for Moselle boat trips.
If you don't have kids to entertain, perhaps you'd prefer to set off along one of the local hiking trails – perhaps exploring the Gorges du Loup (10 minutes) or making your way to the Mullerthal Trail (20 minutes). The scenery is also excellent at Aquatower Berdorf observation deck (15 minutes) and Schiessentumpel Waterfall (20 minutes).
Urban strolls are also an option – perhaps visiting the eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Trier (25 minutes) or taking in the varied architecture of Luxembourg City (35 minutes).
