Families, couples, small groups, solo travellers, dog owners… there’s a warm Welsh welcome (and a good dose of peace and quiet) for all guests at Tyn on the Llyn Campsite, on the Llŷn Peninsula. In a rural location about 15 minutes’ drive from Pwllheli, this small site has gorgeous views of the surrounding landscapes, particularly at sunset. Being well away from any urban light pollution, there’s often also some spectacular stargazing to be done here on clear nights. Just the thing for some time spent appreciating the power of nature… To help preserve this fantastic location, on-site facilities are as eco-friendly as possible, with composting toilets, renewable energy and recycling facilities all in place. There’s also a covered communal seating area and a washing-up station with possibly one of the best views you’ve ever had while tackling the suds. Pwllheli is a handy source of shops and places to eat, and it’s also home to a three-mile stretch of beach that’s great for a family day out. There are more beaches nearby too: long sandy expanses, hidden coves and west-facing beaches with big waves for the surfers. As well as all that, there are various outdoor activities close by, including watersports and mountain biking, and a whole lot of excellent historic attractions. The closest of these, at a few minutes’ drive, is Tre’r Ceiri Hillfort, known as one of the UK’s best-preserved Iron Age hillforts.

Ce camping est très apprécié pour son ambiance paisible, ses vues superbes et ses emplacements spacieux. Les hôtes, Jamie et Sylvie, sont constamment cités pour leur gentillesse et leur aide. Les installations sont d'une propreté impeccable (toilettes à compost, douches chaudes). L'espace commun couvert avec cuisine est un plus. Idéal pour explorer la péninsule de Llyn. A aimé We had our family holiday at Tyn of the Lyn, staying for just over a week with 2 adults and a 10 and 7 year old.

We had a really brilliant time. As soon as you pull up at the campsite you feel your stress melting away! It's in such a beautiful and stunning location.

We had a warm welcome from Jamie and Sylvie and they advised us on the best pitch for us. There's a small number of pitches available so you don't feel close to anyone else.

The facilities are everything you'd need, particularly the camp kitchen area. It was great to hang out there and chat to other campers, who were all super friendly. We could sit and watch the kids play on the field and even cooked in there when the weather was against us. WiFi was the icing on the cake.

There's plenty to do in the area, the local village has a community cafe serving good food, we went to Caernarfon Castle, the Aviation museum and Bounce Below and a couple of beautiful beaches.

We had a really special holiday here.

A aimé A wonderful little campsite run by a truly friendly and welcoming couple with such spacious areas, peace and quiet, practical and well-thought-out facilities, and little details that make a big difference. Ideally located for exploring the peninsula, as well as eastward into the countryside and hills. It’s a place I’ll definitely remember, and I’ll gladly recommend it to my friends.

A aimé Convenient location, amazing local attractions, plenty of room between pitches. Well organised, super clean, the owners were helpful, knowledgeable, and approachable; the amenities facilitated brief exchanges between people on our visit; there was a community feel on site nothing like a hotel.

A aimé I found the campsite extremely invigorating and relaxing it’s situated in an amazing scenic location with rolling hills in every direction very peaceful and at one with nature. The facilities are rustic and basic but provide everything you need for an escape from the norm. The owner of the campsite is a great guy very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this campsite if ur looking for a peaceful escape in the countryside. And I will definitely return there again in the near future

Attractions à proximité

The Welsh language is having quite the resurgence lately, and if you would like to converse with the locals without resorting to English, a visit to Nant Gwrtheyrn (10 minutes’ drive) is a must. This complex in a former quarrying village has a language hub (you can sign up for online lessons) and a heritage centre with exhibitions on local history and myths. Abersoch (20 minutes) is a seaside resort with sheltered, eastern-facing sandy beaches. Just inland from the town, the Abersoch Golf Club has an 18-hole course with gorgeous coastal views; and if you’re into sunsets, it’s an easy 10-minute drive across the headland to Porth Neigwl (aka Hell’s Mouth), a beach popular with surfers. National Trust - Plas yn Rhiw (half an hour) is a pretty stone cottage dating from the 17th century. Take in views of Cardigan Bay from the colourful gardens and surrounding woodland, with wildflower meadows and areas planted with azaleas, camellias and orchids.
