In need of a Devon des res with smashing views? Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is a quiet site in the hills above Lynton and Lynmouth in the Exmoor National Park. As it's got direct access to the A39, it's a top contender if you're looking for a base to explore the Devon and Somerset coast. Needless to say, there's plenty of stunning scenery around here: keep your eyes peeled for resident wildlife like wild ponies, red deer and birds of prey. The surrounding countryside is also full of trails for rural rambles, including the long-distance South West Coast Path. Dogs are welcome at the site and direct access to footpaths makes it a breeze to keep Fido fit and healthy. Lynmouth Holiday Retreat has plenty of practical benefits too: facilities include a food shop, wifi, a washing-up area and a launderette to keep your gear spick and span. If you find yourself getting peckish, feel free to set up a barbecue, order a takeaway or head down into Lynton (five minutes away) to stock up at the supermarket. You'll likely want to linger here for a stroll around its picture-worthy cottages, fishing boats and genteel Victorian buildings. Alternatively, forage for your own supper by taking the kids crabbing down at Lynmouth harbour (five minutes' drive).

A aimé Lovely good size private pitches with lovely views. Clean and modern toliet/washing facilities. Friendly staff.

N'a pas aimé £10.00 fee for arriving only an hour early even tho the pitch was un occupied and ready.

£4.00 fee for 24 hours to use the family bathroom - not ideal if you have babies

No park or anything for children to do

A aimé Fabulous views, friendly helpful staff, clean showers and toilets, essential foods available and food truck very nice idea.

N'a pas aimé Wasn't expecting such a difficult walk to and from lynmouth and lynton. Whilst I am a keen walker the footpath is fairly treacherous and we ended up using cabs to ferry us around.

N'a pas aimé Problems with the chemical waste (it backed up three times during our visit which was inconvenient and did result in some unpleasant whiffs, though to be fair, staff responded quickly).
Distance to town, shop, etc - 1 1/4 mile walk to Lynton was very deceptive, as it's actually quite a challenging walk.

We're really sorry about the issues with the chemical waste during your stay and totally understand how unpleasant that must’ve been – thank you for your patience, and we’re glad our team responded quickly.
However we are glad this has been mentioned so future guests are aware - there are some things that can not be flushed such as wet wipes which seemed to be the thing that kept blocking up the facility. 🛠️

And yes – that walk to Lynton can be deceptively steep! Thankfully, there’s always the option to drive or hop on the bus nearby 🚐

A aimé Everything! The facilities were excellent, lots of thought has clearly gone into every aspect. They need to show these off more in their marketing, tried to explain how good it was to friends but limited info on the website. Staff very friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

A aimé We all loved the site, definitely our favourite we have stayed at… and we have done a few!
Cleanest and tidiest site I’ve stayed at, and I’m fussy. Plenty of showers and toilets. Great for dogs with a field for them but it’s a nice walk just round the site, amazing views. WIFI is brill so the kids where happy, and we could boil our kettle while doing toast.. a camping win!
It’s a mix of caravans and tents but it works well and there was very little noise after 10 …if any.
Staff are amazing, we had a car issue whilst there and they couldn’t have done more to help, not only practical help but just the support was so appreciated.
Good location, you can walk to Lynmouth / Linton which we did a couple of times. It is steep though. Lots of walks round the area (All Trails App is fab)

Attractions à proximité

Guests here have plenty of attractions and activities on their doorstep in and around Lynton and Lynmouth (five minutes' drive). For a novel way to travel between the two, try the funicular cliff railway that connects the twin towns. In the surrounding countryside, you can marvel at the geological formations of the Valley of the Rocks (10 minutes) or head out to the forest around Watersmeet (15 minutes) for waterfalls and an elegant Victorian tea room. Many head to this part of the country in search of outdoor pursuits, so sporty types may well be pleased to learn that Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is close to a stables (10 minutes), fishing lake (20 minutes) and golf club (40 minutes). To really get that blood pumping, hike some or all of the 14 miles along the coast to Combe Martin, a hilly stretch of the South West Coast Path that includes this trail's highest point. You may, of course, prefer a day lounging on the beach (and with beaches like these, who can blame you?). Top seaside towns nearby include Minehead, with its rockpools, and Ilfracombe with its castle and aquarium (both half an hour away).
