You’re off to the north Devon coast and Exmoor National Park, so presumably you’re hoping for beaches, coast walks, outdoor activities… and maybe a pint of local cider to round off the day? Well, you’ll get all of those at Caffyns Farm, a 160-acre property 10 minutes’ drive from Lynton and Lynmouth – oh, and you’ll get a ‘goat café’ too… This attractive location has sea views from its pitches, giving you a hint that you’re not far from the coast here. In fact, it’s an easy 20-minute walk to the nearest beach, Lee Bay, and as the South West Coast Path runs along the site perimeter, you’ll also be able to walk to places like Woody Bay, Valley of Rocks and Heddon’s Mouth. So that’s a winning location, but there’s more to come – because this is a friendly and laidback place where you can choose your own pitch, get your barbecue or campfire going and generally chill out. You’re welcome to take a wander around the farm to meet the friendly animals (sheep, alpacas and chickens among them) and maybe sign up for horse riding activities – they cater for all levels from beginners to advanced riders. After a walk through the orchard there’s only one thing for it – a pint of the farm’s own cider, of course. You can sample this alongside other drinks in the site’s bar, and also pick up snacks and barbecue supplies in the farm shop. Meanwhile, meals from breakfasts to three-course dinners are available in the barn café. Essential facilities on site include freshwater standpipes, a chemical disposal point, a launderette, two bathroom blocks and a kitchen with fridge/freezer and microwave.

A aimé Campsite had everything you could need and more. The shop was well stocked, the cafe/bar was lovely. The pitches were ample, with plenty of smaller areas to make you feel cosy but not crowded. The showers/facilities were great. AND THE WALKS ARE INCREDIBLE. 100% recommend and i will be coming back.

A aimé Anytime arrival and no check out time means you can make the most of your stay. Cafe and shop on site, walking access to coast path through their orchards. Friendly welcome.

N'a pas aimé When super busy the facilities aren’t quite sufficient for the number of people and cleanliness suffers a bit.

A aimé This site is beautiful. Stunning views and amazing walks. The coast line is post card perfect.
My boys had a great time seeing all the animals. The bar and cafe were spot on.
Sampled the local cider is a must. It would have been a crime to have missed out on that. The sweet cider was lovely, the dry, well...that's a whole other game. 😬😅
The site itself it large and the facilities are good. Especially for the price. All the staff were great, friendly and very helpful.
The woodland walks to the beach was beautiful and cool in the shade of the tree. The slog back up the hills however, that was a feat all of its own. All day cooking in the sun, swimming in the sea, to then take that beast on. 🫩 You definitely earn the pint at the bar.

N'a pas aimé This is no way a dig at the site or the staff.

The only thing I would say was a down side would be the pitch organisation, it's a bit wild west.

The site did give us instructions to park and pitch along the edges of the fields and banks.

We pitched in a corner of the hedge and bank, and by the evening we had a village around us, by the second day, I had to tell the new arrivals of the village group not to put their tents with their friends other wise we would have been blocked in. They were happy to oblige.

Note, it was a very busy weekend in the summer holidays.

A aimé Great sea views - we were lucky to arrive at Thursday lunchtime and picked a great pitch sheltered from the breeze with trees giving partial shade (Hares field)
The cafe served good food & drink which also had superb views from the garden.
We really appreciated having space to store our food & drink in the large fridges provided plus having a freezer as well for ice blocks.
The showers were good

N'a pas aimé Having said the showers were good, they could be cleaner or at least have some cleaning tools to use after you've showered. Also a good clean of the roof space would avoid things dropping down into the shower space.
The Cafe offered a few gluten free cakes & meals however some of the staff seemed unsure of meals available (thankfully the owner stepped in to organise options for me)

A aimé The goats, horses and other animals. Never had to wait for toilets or washing up, and facilities were decent and functional. Useful to have the cafe and shop onsite. Loved horse riding on site. Good location.

N'a pas aimé The WiFi is only available in the cafe and shop area, not at the tent pitches. Fortunately there is a decent 4G signal. (Having internet is very important to one member of my family). The camping area got very busy, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, so didn’t feel particularly peaceful.

You’ll be well placed for lots of Exmoor’s top spots when you stay here, including the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth (10 minutes’ drive), the gorge and waterfalls of National Trust - Watersmeet (15 minutes) and the ever-popular Exmoor Zoo (15 minutes). A little further afield, you may like to make your way across the old clapper bridge at Tarr Steps (45 minutes) or conquer Exmoor’s highest point at the 519-metre Dunkery Beacon (40 minutes). If you’re here on a family holiday, you may like to plan outings to places like Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (20 minutes) or Watermouth Castle (half an hour), which has crazy golf, a toboggan run and rides and activities galore in its 17 acres of gardens. And of course there’s always the option of a day at the beach. Family favourites nearby include Woolacombe (35 minutes) and Minehead (40 minutes), along with Ilfracombe (half an hour), which is also the launching point for boat trips to Lundy island.
