Craving watersports, treetop obstacle courses and cycle-easy forest paths? With Cranborne Chase on one side and New Forest on the other, Leat Farm is all about a relaxing retreat in the outdoors. That’s certainly what you get, as the dog-friendly farm site is part of a working smallholding and timber yard on the river Allen with a clear chalk stream, plenty of plant life and a working Stenner sawmill over 100 years old. You'll blend properly into farm life here, thanks to the site’s two horses (Bobbie and Cobby), four goats and a small band of turkeys nearby. At the same time, won't be too far away from the buzz, whether that's the beach or city – within driving distance, there’s Salisbury (half an hour’s drive), Southampton (50 minutes), Bournemouth (half an hour) Christchurch (25 minutes) and Poole (45 minutes). As for the local town, well, from Fordingbridge (five minutes), there’s a fair few adventures to be had and that’s not counting a trip down taste lane (restaurants, shops and pubs are in plentiful supply). There are riding stables, a park, woodland archery and a little further out, the New Forest Water Park (10 minutes) for a good go at wakeboarding, paddleboarding and other watersports. When you’re looking for something a little closer by, the site is behind Alderholt Mill, a working watermill with tearooms (a breakfast spot, maybe?). To the north of the site, there’s also a trout fishery five minutes' drive away.

A aimé The place is idyllic right next to a stream - basic amenities with toilet and shower.
The owner was absolutely lovely, very friendly and helpful. She brought round logs, fire lighters and bin bags every evening with her wonderful dog ( the white one) Will definitely be going back there. The stars at night are awesome with no light pollution at all it’s wonderful quite place to stay.

A aimé We had a lovely spot by the stream where we spotted deer on the other side. The site was quiet and even though there was a family with children, the pitches were so spaced out they didn’t disturb us. Loved that we could have a fire pit and £5 for everything needed was a bargain. Owner was lovely, helpful and friendly. Lots of lovely local walks to be found. If you want a basic site without all the frills then this is perfect.

N'a pas aimé The shower block had a few “peep holes” which didn’t bother me but I’m not sure my daughters would’ve felt comfortable showering.

A aimé Great quiet site, only about 10 tents over our weekend stay. Very welcoming host, nothing was too much trouble for her. You’re doing a fantastic job. Lovely river at the bottom of the site, some animals at the top. Toilet/shower facilities more than adequate, also nice and clean. We will be back without a doubt.

A aimé Location was tranquil and peaceful, lots of space to pitch. This is a simple, back to basics campsite, hot shower and toilets available and drinking water tap with sink to wash up. We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. The owner was very friendly and responsive.

A aimé Loved the whole weekend. Was exactly what it says on the tin. We were greeted by the amazing hoist when we arrived she got us sorted with our logs and fire lighters and then we didn’t c her again. So nice to be back with nature listening to the birds, ducks and wildlife in the morning but having the luxury of flushing toilets and a hot basic shower. We will be back and we can’t wait. This is our style of camping back to basics and in a field doing ur own thing. Thank u so much for having this little bit of perfect hidden away.

A aimé Lovely dog and kid friendly site, lots of space and nice to see the animals in the next field. Shower was nice and warm, Owner was lovely too.

N'a pas aimé Toilets were a little shabby which we didn’t mind, still clean and loo roll was kept well stocked… but unfortunately the lights weren’t working which made it interesting trying to help the kids use the loo by torchlight in the dark 😅
