Draughton Heights Campsite

A aimé I stayed at Draughton Heights towards the end of October and absolutely loved it. The location is stunning — set high up in the hills with amazing views, especially at sunset. Because it’s so elevated, it can get quite windy, and it was definitely cold at night, so pack plenty of warm layers if you’re camping late in the season!

The site felt very safe and well maintained. You can park right next to your pitch, which is really convenient, and the facilities are excellent — spotless toilets and showers, plus a small kitchenette area with a communal kettle, fridge, freezer, and washing machine. Everything was clean, modern, and well looked after.

The campsite is tucked away off a quiet country road, and the track leading up is unsurfaced, pebbly, and a bit rocky, so just take it steady on the drive in. There are also two lovely lakes on site, perfect for a swim in the summer months, and plenty of open space to relax and enjoy the views.

It’s worth noting the site is unlit (apart from the toilet block), so bring a good torch if you’re heading out after dark.

Overall, a beautiful, peaceful spot with incredible views and great facilities — I’d definitely stay here again.

A aimé Lovely hillside location complete with swimming ponds, beautiful views, friendly owners, spotless facilities and a sauna - what’s not to like?! They also allow fires and don’t force you to buy their wood which is a nice change.

N'a pas aimé Nothing - it’s fab - just worth just noting that it’s about an hour’s walk or 10 min drive to the local shop/pub.

A aimé Site was amazing - toilets and showers were excellent, kitchen area has all the appliances you’d need. Amazing views, the lakes on site are lovely; wasn’t brave enough to go in though!
Owners were lovely too - thank you for having us!

A aimé We honestly loved this campsite, we both went “woah” when we went into the really warm and clean bathrooms and showers, there were really good, surprising facilities like a warm room to wash up and play equipment. It’s also not often you can book a sauna on a campsite. They were so friendly and helpful and it’s really beautiful.

A aimé Absolutely loved my stay! The campsite is really well kept with spectacular views. The facilities are great and well looked after/clean. Richard is super helpful. Will definitely stay again!

A aimé What a wonderful site this is. The owners are putting such care and thought into creating a wonderful site. We were two friends in camper vans and parked up next to each other by one of the three man made lakes. Despite the rain and gales (storm Amy), we had a wonderful visit. The facilities are top notch with hot showers, a washing up station and plenty of bins for recycling. With no electric hook ups this is designed for off grid camping. The road onto the site is a steep hill so not suitable for caravans or large motor homes. We were shown around one of the three beautiful en-suite pods complete with king sized bed, living area and kitchen and power showers. If we hadn't been in the vans this would have been a great option. Outside there are table and chairs and fire pits. We've eyed them up for a future visit.
For wild swimmers out there, the lakes are accessible at your own risk. My mate went in and said it was very brisk!! There's a separately run sauna that can be booked ahead of your visit.
Once the clouds cleared, the views were spectacular. The site is just off the Dales Way and you can walk into Skipton in around an hour, where there are plenty of lovely independent shops and of course a good supply of pubs. Alternatively Skipton is just a 10 min drive away. There's also a steam railway close by, and Bolton Abbey. Walking routes a plenty.
The site is only in it's second year and is already a wonderful place to visit. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

A aimé I absolutely loved my stay in this campsite. The place is amazing and so well maintained. Beautiful and quiet place to saty.The amenities are very clean. The toilets and showers are the best I have seen in a campsite, and believe me, I have been in many many campsites in the country and abroad over the years! The owner was very kind and helpful. Beautiful views and beautiful walks around. 10/10 Well recommended!
