we stayed here because it was the closest campsite the week afford that headspace on our dates as we were attending a car show in a local town . it was Cheap to camp, it had beautiful surroundings, lovely on-site cafe that did a great breakfast and a mean cup of tea.
Two lovely pubs within walking distance, Toilets and showers were lovely and clean, shower was hot and very powerful grate for Washing hair. Helpful staff

it rained on the first day, but I guess there’s not really the campsites fault!!!

Friendly reception welcome, beautiful lake surroundings, goats and chickens to look at, fantastic play area in secure area, very clean and warm toilet block with showers

The site is having some construction done with a large digger and piles of dirt/rubble between the camping "field" and the caravans which was awkward to drive around

The showers were lovely and warm. The on site cafe was a bonus. Nice and clean.

The shower block was far too hot.

Woke up and anglers had parked on my pitch with another two cars across the grass and a lady on deck chair not cared when asked !
Not worth the hassle .

so partner had to park elsewhere !

Have been to Makins a few times now. Such a lovely friendly place, if you love fishing it’s perfect- although I am the only one in my family that don’t fish, it’s such a lovely area to go for a walk, and there are a few lovely pubs around to!

The toilets and showers were lovely, very quiet site even though it’s close to the motorway. Plenty of waterfowl to see, they are clearly investing in the place with lots of projects on the go. We aren’t remotely into fishing but still enjoyed our stay. Good kids play area and the Pygmy goats were delightful. Good spacious pitches, cafe on site.

Upon arrival our van got stuck in the mud, completely our fault, didn't read the sign. We were very quickly pulled out by the helpful staff. The tent field was not suitable to camp on, due to the massive downpour the previous couple of days. Due to this, we were allowed to pitch up on the electric pitches and as a way of apology they said we could use the electricity for free. After that the weather was actually really nice for the time of year so we had a great weekend. The males enjoyed the fishing and I enjoyed the peace and quiet. This was our second visit to Makins and we will definitely visit again. The facilities were clean and extremely warm.
