Seaview Gorran Haven Holiday Park

A aimé Was a lovely peaceful site. Beautiful surroundings, lovely swimming pool and clean out and about. Great park and field space for the kids to play football and run around. The kitchen was great with grill, hob and kettle when the weather was rubbish we could all use to cook food. Separate rooms for showers and toilets which was great.

A aimé The facilities and pitches with electricity looked really nice ,wide and very private. Unfortunately we were camping on the playground.

N'a pas aimé It was very pricey compared to others sites with no electric pitches so I was expecting a very nice quiet place. However we were very unlucky. Our pitch was in the middle of the playground - 3 meters away from the football pitch. The tent and the car were constantly hit by the footballs. Very loud and noisy from the morning till very late( some days the kids were playing football pass midnight shouting and hitting our tent)
No privacy on non electric pitches.
Also gym very pricey £12 per day per person. No information on the website only found out on arrival.
What supoused to be a nice and quiet family holiday turned out to be extremely stressful. Staff not helpful when we complain about the pitch they said nothing they can do about it. Maybe don't make the pitch next to the football goal or place the net around the football pitch? Very disappointing.

A aimé Shower block layout meant as a family we could use one cubical to brush teeth rather than separate ones, this set up is good for families with younger children as there is plenty of room in the cubical to shower, change and use the toilet.

Communal kitchen facilities were clean and adequate. Washing machine, dryer, mini oven, kettle, toaster and freezer available to use.

Swimming pool was clean and plenty of seating area. Giant chess and table tennis table also available. Coffee lounge off main reception had coffee machine, cold fridges of cans, chocolate, milk cartons all payable at reception. Can sit overlooking the pool.

Easy check in and pitch (hedged) was adequate with shared water and electric point. Grass areas around pitches were well-maintained.

Quiet campsite.

N'a pas aimé Strong smell of camabis durimg the day and evening and whilst I understand this is the choice of campers, it did not appear that any staff were present or onsight after 6pm, we did not see anyone walking about.

There are no night lights around the pitches, so head torches for early morning toileting are beneficial.

No onsight shop for basics such as bread. We found a small post office in Gorran that sold milk, fresh bread, and all other necessities.

A aimé The site was located in a beautiful area of Boswinger. The approach roads were narrow in places but the directions to the site were clear and helpful. We drove our converted Peugeot Boxer Campervan to the location and managed to pass on the narrow roads with caution at various passing points.
We were slightly early for the 2pm check in and staff asked us to wait a few minutes to allow for movement from the morning to settle.
The allocated pitch was in the non electric Meadow on grass, the pitch was level and well maintained and probably the best kept pitch we had experienced so far on our mini road trip.
We booked to stay 3 nights and enjoyed the quiet, family feel of the site and others on it. Lots of families, with children of all ages and a lovely heated swimming pool and dog exercise area, both well maintained.
We were able to leave the site for walks and return with no issues.
Staff were helpful to explain the services on site. The toilet and shower facilities were enclosed cubicles large enough for a family to use, this layout allowed for complete privacy, really very lovely and cleaned regularly.
The coffee lounge stocked a small selection of hot and cold drinks, some ice creams / ice lollies and snacks such as crisps, biscuits and cakes. All individually wrapped, not home made.
A large play area was available to use and whilst we were pitched near it (not on it), it didn't disturb us, in fact it was lovely to hear children playing out until sunset and having a lovely time. Having said that, if we had been pitched on the playing field (as others were) I think we would have had a different experience, less peaceful.

N'a pas aimé The swimming pool was lovely but useful to note that there is no lifeguard and so any children under 16 need to be supervised by an adult at all times. No alone swimming either. So if you wanted to go for a quiet swim before anyone else rose for the day, it would not be permitted and whilst my teenagers are strong swimmers, I had to be with them at all times which did restrict my free time a little but I understand the rationale in terms of water safety.

The coffee lounge really was limited in terms of nutritional value and cost, a small shop supplying fresh produce would have been helpful. The nearest grocery store was in the village and was also limited in terms of produce but also a 30 minute walk away and a long hard steep hill walk back. I am fit and the dog had a lovely time, but the kids were pretty fed up by the time we got back with a packet of spaghetti, mince beef, tin of tomatoes and an onion. They devoid the pasta dish that resulted in our trek but would have appreciated an easier meal option.

On a less light hearted note, a shop on site really would have made our stay much more relaxed and in fact we left a day earlier than planned because we needed supplies and once off site, it wasn't worth driving all the way back so we carried on our travels via the nearest supermarket.
