It’s not every day you get to pitch up among fruit trees, so grab the chance to do just that at Frittenden Orchard, where off-grid grass pitches are scattered in orchards on a Kent farm near Staplehurst. For even more of a back-to-nature vibe, you can wander the 11-acre woodland wildlife haven around the camping fields, where you might get to see foxes, badgers and deer. The site owners are happy to suggest local walks and sightseeing ideas for you. Free-range eggs are available from their own hens (just think of the breakfast fry-ups…). As this is a simple campsite, there’s no electricity but you will have a wifi connection and ice-pack freezing to keep your food fresh and chilled, as well as charging facilities for your devices, so you can keep in touch with the outside world. You can barbecue meals on grills brought from home, and pick up locally sourced produce from the handy store in Frittenden (five minutes’ drive), but if you’d rather someone else did your cooking while you’re away from home, there’s also a smashing pub in the village serving yummy burgers and local beers.

A aimé Very warm welcome from Diane and a beautiful orchard site, very quiet and felt very safe travelling solo.
Although no showers this wasn’t a problem, toilet facilities great and very clean.
I didn’t walk to the pub, or Sissinghurst but you could do both easily. In hindsight wished I had only booked more than one night! Would definitely return. Thank you!

A aimé Diane kindly took the time to show me around and where everything was. The site was clean, not too busy, easy to locate. The woodland was lovely to walk around.

A aimé The peace and quiet and how few people there were. Beautiful countryside on the door step with a lovely stroll across the fields to the pub. Friendly welcome with a laid back attitude and freedom to pick your own space.

N'a pas aimé It's very basic but we knew that before we arrived and isn't trying to be anything that it's not.

A aimé Beautiful Location surrounded by Orchard trees out in a rural location , very friendly host , nice and quiet site with an abundance of room .
We went on a 2 mile bike ride to the local pub .
Definitely worth a visit

Great for access to the countryside of Kent .

A aimé Lots of space, quiet and generally chilled experience. Very minimalistic camping with a friendly owner.

N'a pas aimé There's a toilet and it's functional, but otherwise there's next to nothing on site. We were told of a wash facility but it was locked when we went to use it - we were warned it was open within a window of time - but don't be fooled this camping experiance is a field with a single metal portable toilet with cold water, and that's about it.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Hello Billy, I'm sorry that you were unable to open the door to the washing up room, which also contains a small fridge, power points to charge your phone and a separate toilet with wash basin. I wonder as to whether you were trying to open the correct door, as the room is open all day until 9:00 p.m.
You were unable to participate in the usual tour of the campsite that I give to all campers. Also your companion (on another booking) had driven straight onto the field without checking in. I pointed out and described to both of you all of the facilities, from your pitches.
Hopefully, when you visit again you will be able to have the proper tour. I'm glad that you had a very enjoyable time, I look forward to welcoming you again.

Leeds Castle (25 minutes’ drive) has a host of activities, from guided tours to jousting tournaments and raptor displays, to keep families entertained all day. There are rose gardens to wander in Sissinghurst Castle Garden (10 minutes), and at moated Scotney Castle (25 minutes) you can follow trails through landscaped parkland. There’s more active stuff to do too; kids with energy to burn can wear themselves out on zipwires or mountain-biking trails at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (20 minutes), or on the inflatable course at Bewl Water Aqua Park (25 minutes). Younger children can cuddle the cute creatures at Buttercups Sanctuary For Goats (20 minutes), and any rainy-day issues are taken care of by the indoor pool at The Weald Sports Centre (10 minutes). If you’ve treated the kids to their day out, you deserve some me-time too. How about heading into Royal Tunbridge Wells (40 minutes) to browse indie shops or lunch in the cosy bistros of The Pantiles? And if you fancy a night out, book tickets for shows at the Trinity or Assembly Hall theatres.
