Enjoyed free entry to the grounds of Paxton House.
Waste facilities adequate *No me gustó: *waste bins filled quickly as appear to be used by the groundsman. Not emptied enough.
Toilet/wet rooms were not cleaned enough. Topped up with loo roll daily but not cleaned or tidied. Soap dispenser broken in 1 of the 2 rooms. Toilet seat broken in both. One room out of order for days after a child was locked in at night due to a faulty lock that had been previously reported last year and not fixed. No mop or loo-brush provided.
No after hours contact number available. No warden checks done all week.

Lovely large, level, hard standing, well spaced out pitches with loads of room between outfits. Facilities excellent and clean. Recycling bins. Very quiet but plenty to see and do nearby. Brilliant walks from the site and the adventure playground for the kids is brilliant. Superb pub in the village which does super meals. Will definitely be back.

Boat trips can be taken on the river Tweed. access to grounds of Paxton house is free if staying at the campsite with walks along river, with some very interesting history.
No me gustó: 2 wet rooms only with toilets, if people are having a shower in both then there is no access to toilet. while there one was out of commision.

We don't actually advertise the wet rooms because we know that there are only two and that this can cause congestion.
One of our toilets was vandalised recently and we are waiting on a replacement lock.

No me gustó: The toilet, people get locked in all the time as is an issue.
If a private event on your not allowed to use the grounds for walks or go to the cafe. No one told us this and thus should be made clear to all caravan site customers.

Firstly, we have replaced both doors and locks and this has meant that people are not getting stuck. Unfortunately, we had one 16 year old get stuck this weekend but this is the first since the new locks were installed.
For an event day access to the event is an additional cost because it is an event. The grounds were still open for walking in, just the main area near the house that was closed for the event. I am sorry you did know this and take on board the feedback about ensuring that people know.

The pitches are marked with greenery made boundaries and are very generous in size. There is good drainage / stone area for vehicle/ caravan/ Campervan and a generous grassed area for awning or canopy.
There is a toilet block with two toilets and two wet rooms which were
Open during our stay. We had our own facilities on board however it was a nice surprise as they aren’t advertised.
There is a lovely centre grassed area for the kids / adults to play too.
As always the grounds were beautiful to explore, from family walks, to den building, dragon and fairy trail and walking along the riverside taking in the views of the union bridge. The little ones love exploring the water mill and dam as well as the great park within the grounds.
We loved the “grow your own garden” which was full of apples and other treats to see and the gardens were beautifully maintained.
We will certainly be back and would recommend to anyone.
There is also the option to have afternoon tea or various sweet treats and a small onsite shop too.No me gustó: –

No me gustó: There is a small shower if you need it but it’s not the best. Better if you are self contained.

No me gustó: Although the website states that there are no toilet or shower facilities, they do exist in the form of 2 accessible portakabin units. However, they are not well maintained. Door lock broken on 1 unit, so it was locked off and out of use. No method of removing water from floor of units post showering as there were no mops or squeejies. Alarm cord in one unit was snapped at the ceiling, so was inoperative. Constant queues for use, with selfish people taking up to 30 minutes for a shower, oblivious of people needing to use the toilet. No hand driers in facilities. However the units were cleaned daily.

The showers have been quite problematic and so we no longer advertise them.
We have had both mops, buckets and squidgees but they have all been stolen and at one point, we decided to stop supplying them.
The door lock had literally just been broken at the weekend and a replacement part was ordered immediately.
Again, we used to supply hand towels, but people flushed them and they blocked the septic tank.
We will revisit mops for next season and will try to get some hand driers installed over the winter.

No me gustó: The only thing I would say needed addressed was the cleaning of the toilet block. Had to ask for toilet paper, seems to be a thing, also not cleaned enough or well enough in my eyes.
We are glad you enjoyed our caravan park and site.
We work hard to maintain the showers and clean them daily- they are also deep cleaned twice a week by a professional company.
The toilet roll holder has two large rolls and is replaced/ checked two or three times a day. I think some visitors don’t realise they can move the bar along and access the second roll…

Just to note, we actually have replaced both locks and both doors in the shower facility due to complaints and issues with the locks last year. The 16 year old boy, was stuck for a short while before managing to get out. During this time, this new lock was pulled off the door, which is why the door is no longer operational. This is why the unit was closed.
You are correct, we do not have a dedicated warden as such. But, we have several staff regularly check the site during the day and during the evening.
The showers are cleaned twice a day in peak season and this reduces to once a day when the number of vans dictates. And as you noted toilet roll is topped up at this time.
