Pitches are far enough apart to feel like you are wild camping.
Absolutely loved the fire pits.
Shed showers are novel.
Having a stepping stool next to urinals for children to use was a great idea.
30 min walk to blast beach. 3 hours walk to Seaham beach (walking at a 4 year old pace).
I've already booked to come back again in 7 weeks.

Me gustó: Me and my daughter attended and she had a great time running around playing with the other kids on sight, a safe place for children to run around and enjoy themselves and it had everything we need.
I enjoyed relaxing with the firepit provided.

Me gustó: The host was lovely and very accommodating. Amenities are great and everything is clean. There’s showers, toilets and there’s an inside communal area - they really have everything. Short walk to the beach with was lovely. Would highly recommend.

Me gustó: Enjoyed our stay here, beautiful walk to the beach, hidden gem, peaceful, lots of bird life . The owners very friendly and helpful, toilet and showers lovely and clean (I often don’t use site facilities if not clean but not here they were great ) Thanks for our lovely stay we stayed in our campervan with my husband, adult Down’s syndrome son who also enjoy walk with us .

Me gustó: Lovely location and probably the most tranquil and peaceful place I've stayed at for a long time.
Owner very friendly and helpful and facilities were clean. The daffs were a nice touch!
Will definitely be aiming to return again.

Cabaña pod Sparrow
Me gustó: This is a very lovely campsite in a stunning location! I stayed in Sparrow Pod with my dog. The little seating area in front of the pod has a spectacular view across the woods to the sea, perfect for enjoying a campfire and all the birdlife. This is the 'simple' pod (bring your camp bed and everything you'd need in a tent) - it's beautiful quality wood and has several sockets and cosy underfloor heating.
The site as a whole has lots of lovely touches (including fresh daffodils in vases in the toilets!) and spotlessly clean facilities - the owners are really welcoming and helpful. I noticed that there are nice level pitches on various 'terraces' for tent campers and a hardstanding area for campervans.
Some helpful practical things:
Dog owners - dogs must be kept on lead on site but there's a wonderful large field immediately adjacent where dogs can run free. This leads to the walk through the woods to the beach which is traffic free (see note below about steep drops).
Access track - this is a fun challenge and I wouldn't fancy it in wintry conditions or a low slung sports car! But it's totally do-able if you're patient - take it very slowly in a low gear and note where the very few passing places are as you might need to reverse quite a long way. I did it six times and never encountered another vehicle though. It's totally worth it for the wonderful location at the other end - just take all your provisions as you probably won't want to 'pop back' to the shops.
Mobility/fitness - if like me you're a bit compromised in these areas, it's worth noting that the site is sloping and you can't park right by your pitch/accommodation. But wheelbarrows are available for transporting gear and I'm sure you could ask for one of the nearer tent pitches if that would help you. The path to the beach goes through stunning scenery (took me about half an hour at quite a slow pace) with steep parts and uneven ground - sturdy footwear advised. There's also a very simple stile (see photo) which is the only way into the woods - I couldn't climb it but luckily I'm just tall enough (5 foot 8) to 'stride' over it inelegantly!
Safety on the walk to the beach - as you get further through the woods, nearer to the impressive viaduct which you go underneath, there are some very steep drops - just good to be aware of if you've got dogs or young children running around. I just popped my dog on her lead for those sections.
These are just some useful pointers to help you enjoy your stay - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful place and will definitely be back one day!
