Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England
Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (large)
Liked Much as everyone else has said 5 Star toilets and showers huge attention to detail.Very friendly owners.Handy for Shrewsbury and the Shropshire Hills. Although the grass was brown because of the dry weather it would have been nice to have a bit of greenery to break the site up a bit .I.M.O.
Also great vfm we also have a tent and pay £32 fir a piece of grass without electricity.
Disliked Road noise

Liked Our ferry was delayed until 22.00 and the site emailed us to say they would keep reception open until midnight. When we arrived along with probably 10 other bits she was very helpful and there was other man guiding us to our plot..Highly recommend no more the 30 mins from the port.

Electric grass pitch
Liked Very spacious pitches. Spaced around the edges of a large field, which made it feel uncramped. 6 year old grandson loved playing in the centre space. Grass looked after meticulously. Showers and toilets were event type portacabins and very modern and clean. Chemical waste point well kept. We had ehu. Fabulous views and very peaceful. Owner friendly and helpful. No playground or cafes or entertainment but this was exactly what we wanted. It rained heavily one day but pitches were well drained and not sodden or muddy. Some people had fire pits. One inconsiderate camper left the fire going after they left which could have been dangerous in dryer weather.

Liked Very friendly and helpful people, both the warden and other residents. There seemed to be mainly permanent caravans with just a smaller area for tourers. The weather was against us but in the sunshine the views are lovely. All facilities were clean. Even had a bar. It was quiet when we were there probably because the rain kept people inside. The pitches aren't marked out and as it was fairly empty of tourers, we didn't feel penned in. Somerset very pretty and not too crowded location.
Disliked Slight confusion where to get drinking water from. This wasn't explained. Also for us there wasn't much to do/see in the surrounding area. However, if the weather had been better we would have explored more. We were only there 3 nights over bank holiday. Don't know if there is WiFi, this wasn't told to us, but had our own anyway. One night a dog barked for hours on end unchecked. Think it was one of the permanent homes on site. We were inside so not too annoying. Felt more sorry for the dog!

Orchard non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (adults only)
Liked We imagine the site would be idyllic on a summers day, but the summers day we chose, it rained for 12 hours - not their fault obviously. Luckily there was a cider bar on site which kept us amused. The site has a nice laid back atmosphere, come and go as you please, find your own pitch and chill out. Camp fires are also permitted.
Disliked Only criticism would be one long drop toilet,no toilet roll, for most of the time and no saw dust any time, on the camping field for approx 20 tents with two standard toilets with showers(£1 a go) near the cider bar.

Electric grass pitch
Liked Very clean facilities if a little dated. Couldn't see an electric socket in shower block for my straightners. It can be dodgy using them on the EHU as they can sometimes blow electrics.I know it's camping, but I still want to use them!
There was plenty of space as it was out of season.
Disliked Noisy road. Probably not so obvious in caravans/campers, but in a tent, even with earplugs, it was quite loud.
There were too many pitches squashed in. We were lucky as it was out of season. Would imagine at high season it is quite cramped.
Buses back from Stratford finished at 6pm. Not the campsite's fault, but has to be considered if you don't want to drive or taxi.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (large)
Liked My husband and I stayed here for one night, in a 2 man tent with motorbike. Lovely, rural, level, "pitch where you like", tent field.
The closest toilets to the tent field are not as modern as main shower block but they are perfectly adequate for night time visits. There is also a washing up area with fridge for communal use, near the tent field.
The main shower block is really clean and has electric socket and hairdryer.
There was a wooden picnic table near our tent, which was useful for us as we couldn't fit a table or chairs on our bike.
Short walk to Cheddar village centre where you can find food shops and places to eat.
The owner was really friendly and helpful.
Some people mentioned the noise of the church chimes. This was my first time camping for years, so I didn't sleep brilliantly and did notice the chimes, even through ear plugs. My husband on the other hand, who is a light sleeper, also wore ear plugs and didn't notice the chimes at all. It would not stop me returning.
Would definitely stay here again. Loved the Adults Only aspect.
