General

  • Five kilometres from the foodie and festival resort of San Sebastián
  • Shuttle bus to town every 30 minutes

Right. Firmness is probably needed here. If you're in the habit of holidaying fairly regularly in Spain and you haven't yet been to San Sebastián in the Basque country, it's a firm fact that you really should, and soon.

Haven't been to Spain yet at all? This is a topping spot to make your first: San Sebastián is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain and has been described as the country's 'most elegant and fashionable seaside resort'. Cor.

And you might want to stay at Camping Igueldo too: it's only five kilometres from the resort's gorge Ondarreta beach, in a sublime setting between the mountains and the sea, and – how super – runs a shuttle bus to San Sebastián every 30 minutes. Hurrah!

Camping Igueldo is a family-friendly site with modern facilities, including an up to date amenities block with plenty of showers and loos, hot and cold water all the day and night long, and coin-operated washers and dryers. Lockers of varying sizes are to hand so guests can keep their stuff snugly secure.

For eats, tasty local meals are dished up at the site restaurant and a roomy barbecue area with picnic tables is available for guests' use. Thirsts can be slaked at the Camping Igueldo bar and supplies sorted at the on-site supermarket; shops and restaurants are just over half a kilometre away.

Camping Igueldo also has free wifi.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 09/07 et 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Lovely terraced sites. 09/04/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Emma D. Confirmed

  • Non-electric grass tent pitch (motorcyclist)

  • Liked:

Location, although out of san sebastian was good, despite the rain everything drained really quickly.
The pitches are terraced which is nice & feels very secure - they lock it at night.
Really really clean - brilliant bathroom facilities

    Disliked:

Muddy pitches, but we arrived at the end of the season so probably not much that could have been done here.
Also, difficult to check out before 9 (September) - I suggest there needs to be a key drop box obvious, the gates were open but it was hard to tell where to drop our key card off!

Lovely clean site with great facilities and location 08/27/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Jenny D. Confirmed

  • Electric optional grass trailer tent or tent pitch
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

Really lovely clean site with great facilities, including a fantastic pool, the best campsite showers I have ever experienced, a bbq area with picnic tables, little playpark for the kids, drinking water and bins at the end of every row of pitches. We also loved the close proximity to San Sebastian with a regular bus service from very close to the park.

    Disliked:

Nothing, although another couple had to leave a day early as the site wouldn't let them leave before 8am the next morning to catch their ferry. Someone else also said their tent wouldn't fit on their pitch although ours was fine for our tent, car and a small sitting/cooking area.

OK for a short visit to San Sebastian or enroute to/from ferry ports 08/17/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Helen B. Confirmed

  • Fully-serviced grass touring caravan pitch
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

Struggling to find something positive. Toilet blocks were kept clean. 30 minute bus route outside campsite but be prepared to stand in high season

    Disliked:

Poor access - very steep winding hill either way. Challenging for caravans.Very small terraced pitch with close neighbours. Need a pipe to fit tap and waste system if on serviced pitch but not air-locked so smelly. Didn't like having to wear wrist band to use pool/bar and to get into campsite. Also the ticket queuing system in office even when not busy or to buy a postcard. Didn't expect groups - 40+ Scouts one night, coach load of 18-39 yr old another and then a stag do! So not as quiet as expected plus a noisy dumper truck drives around the site collecting rubbish etc. Swimming pool is OK but limited seating area & had to ask attendant to unlock the one loo, if needed. Left early.
Nothing to do with the campsite but be careful cycling on the road down to San Sebastian as steep, narrow with sharp bends - unfortunately a cyclist got killed whilst we were there.

Busy but well organised campsite. Good clean facilities 08/10/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Joanna E. Confirmed

  • Fully-serviced grass motorhome pitch

  • Liked:

Lovely swimming pool at top of the park with views towards the mountains and valley. Very good clean and tidy shower, toilet and washing facilities. Fully serviced pitch with own electrical and water supply. Shuttle bus to San Sebastian every 30 mins (1.70 Euro fare) from right outside the campsite

    Disliked:

Swimming pool not open until 10.30 (may be due to having a life guard on duty).
Pitches bordered by hedges which felt a little bit cramped and enclosed, although privacy may appeal to others.

It was ok for a couple of days, great position, very clean 07/31/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Harvey L. Mobile phone icon Confirmed

  • Liked:

The facilities were immaculately clean, the owners are obviously passionate about the aesthetics of the site.

    Disliked:

The pitches are small and made tighter to get a caravan into by having trees in the middle. It was all a bit tight when trying to manoeuvre the car and caravan due to the landscaping.

Local attractions

San Sebastián city centre is 15 minutes’ drive from Camping Igueldo – or do get that 30-minute shuttle bus... Once in town, firmly recommended are scenic strolls along its three beaches: its best-known La Concha, the surf centre Zurriola, and Ondarreta, a family-friendly and large stretch of sand also known for its surfing and bodyboarding.

San Sebastián is quite the foodie city too – many inhabitants are members of the local gourmet clubs – and has heaps of well-renowned restaurants at which to sample Basque and other cuisine.

It's a cultural place as well, home of the San Sebastián International Film Festival and of Jazzaldia, the longest continuously running jazz festival in Europe: we reckon tis small wonder that along with Wroclaw in Poland, San Sebastián was awarded European City of Culture for 2016...

The city is also (sí, there's a whole heap more) famed for its pintxos, the small bars of the region serving tapas alongside its drinks. Head to the San Sebastián Old Town to try the best of them: another reason this city is a must is that it has the highest concentration of bars in the world..
