Sitting in the spectacular Gorges de l’Ardèche in the south of the Ardèche, Camping du Midi has a superb location with direct access to a private sandy beach and – yes, there’s more – the site is a 10-minute walk from the soaring Pont d’Arc rock arch spanning the river. With the mighty walls of the gorge as a backdrop, pitches are partially shaded by leafy trees. Handy on-site facilities include a modern shower block with hot water, a small playground, ping pong tables and a pétanque court. Eat out in the bar-café, or go self-catering and replenish your stocks at the grocery store. The free shuttle (every half an hour) is a handy way to get into Vallon-Pont-d’Arc for supermarket jaunts and a host of eateries, from traditional bakeries to trendy pizzerias. However, the undoubted star of the show at Camping du Midi is the Ardèche Gorges National Nature Reserve itself; when the mood takes you, explore the gorge, go wild swimming and fishing, or paddle downstream in a canoe… You can organise excursions and hire canoes at the reception. But all that activity isn’t compulsory, so it’s lucky that the beach is also a very pretty spot for simply chilling with pals, or catching some sunshine as you splash around with the kids in the pristine waters.

Liked Nous avons adoré l'accueil, la bienveillance et le dynamisme de l'équipe. Camping familiale, simple et efficace pleine de bonne humeur. Rivière et baignade géniale, pont d'arc a 300 mètres. Une navette est a disponibilité pour rejoindre le centre valón pont d'arc et des activités autour de la rivière sont organisées sur place. Il y a de la vie dans les environnements. Nous avons prolongé notre séjour parce qu'on s'est bien plu.

Disliked L'hygiène des sanitaires peut être améliorée mais reste correcte tenant compte aussi du nombre de groupes jeunes présent.

Disliked 2 douches sur 3 sanitaire du haut on un jet qui coule à 5 cm de la parois donc impossible de se doucher
Bcp de toilette d’araignée dans les sanitaires

Liked Onze plek was echt fantastisch!
De ligging van de camping is ook echt geweldig.
Ruim en we keken over de hele camping uit.
Super vriendelijke eigenaar.
Zou zeker nog eens terug gaan.

Disliked De herrie van de jongeren onder ons, werd ook niks van gezegd. Douchewater was meestal lauw of koud, wat ik niet erg vindt maar mijn vriend wel. Zou ook beter onderhouden mogen worden.

Liked Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Der Campingplatz ist überschaubar und ruhig. Die Sanitäranlagen sind einfach, bieten aber alles was man braucht und werden regelmäßig gereinigt.

Disliked Auf dem StellPlatz lagen Bretter mit herausragenden spitzen und verrosteten Schrauben, Reste eines defekten fest installierten Sitzplatzes.
Schade dass solcher Müll nicht abgebaut/ weggeräumt wird.

Liked Det er et super fantastisk sted og beliggenheden er helt i top. Mulighederne er mange uanset alder. Rigtig søde medarbejdere, som altid er smilende og hjælpsomme. Der vil vi helt sikkert komme igen.

Liked Location beside the river, with a long beach-front.
Shady pitches.
Possibility to hire canoes on site.
Next-door restaurant.

Disliked Noisy activity by organised groups right next to the normal camping/campervan pitches. No rules/quiet time, or monitoring of noise by campsite. Activity areas should be separated from pitches.
No loo paper in individual loos (though there was sometimes some on the wall within the loo/shower block), and loos were not always kept clean.
The campsite dog was left to do its business without it being cleaned up.

If you're keen to get involved in some serious adrenaline-inducing activities, caving can be arranged at local outdoor activity centres (within 15 minutes' drive) and climbing can be done at the via ferrata courses far above the river at Face Sud/Canyoning Ardèche (10 minutes). Further afield are canyoning activities (around an hour and 15 minutes) and whitewater rafting (around two hours). If you just fancy a gentler way to get out on the river, paddle canoes downstream to the landmark Pont d’Arc for a picnic under its span. To come face-to-face with the ancient world below your feet, take an interactive tour of Grotte Chauvet 2 (15 minutes) to see replicas of prehistoric cave paintings and dioramas featuring hairy mammoths and Stone Age man. Discover dramatic crystal formations in the vast subterranean chambers at Aven d’Orgnac (half an hour), or watch the sound-and-light show in the caves at Grotte de la Madeleine (20 minutes) – and don’t miss the remarkable views over the Ardèche countryside from the observation deck. For more spectacular views over the twists and turns of the Ardèche River, head for the Belvédère d’Autridge (15 minutes) or Belvédère du Serre de Tourre (five minutes).
