Get set for a whirlwind of action if you’re staying at Camping Europa – this site near Saint Gilles Croix de Vie has heaps of family-friendly activities to keep even the busiest of bees amused for many a day.
Around the playgrounds there’s plenty of kit for kids of all ages, including a trampoline, a miniature wooden train and a climbing frame with nets and acrobatic course. There’s a fab outdoor pool area with two heated pools with a water play area, four waterslides and a blissful bubbling Jacuzzi bench. And you need not fear a passing cloud or few – aquatic antics can continue at the indoor pool, paddling pool and water play area, or you can retreat to the well-equipped games room.
Swing by here in the school hols and you’ll easily fill hours with all manner of organised activities – sports tournaments, zumba classes and aqua gym for the grownups, crafts, games and dancing for the small sorts. Pedal karts, foam parties and laser games have all featured on recent schedules, as have canoeing, paintballing and tree-climbing outings. And the activities don’t stop at sundown – evenings tend to be packed with live music, themed meals, quizzes and other family-friendly fun.
For eats, you’re welcome to fire up a barbie or trot over to the bar-restaurant to acquire snacks, ice creams or meals to eat in or take away (the homemade pizzas come highly recommended).

Route directions
On the D6 from la Roche sur Yon, follow signs to Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. When you reach the roundabout by the O'Hara holiday homes, turn left. The site is 100 metres away, on your right.

Local attractions
It’ll take you 10 minutes or so to drive from the site to the resort of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie for super sandy beaches, fishing trips and watersports including surf lessons. Further fab beaches, bike rides and hikes on the islands of Noirmoutier and Yeu, an hour or so north of the site.
Away from the coast, there’s an adventure park 15 minutes’ drive away for treetop trails, pony rides and laser games, and a canoe centre 10 minutes away for days spent paddling through the local wetlands. A couple of horse riding centres within 20 minutes or so can take you on inland treks or to canter through the waves on the beach.
Family days out in the region include Planète Sauvage zoo and the Puy du Fou theme park, both of which are around an hour’s drive from the site.
