Electric optional grass and earth pitch

Liked: The setting is really quite, generally clean idyllic and well shaded. Great access to the river, very nice little town next door. The shaded grassy pitches were great. Three large separate and well located toilet/shower blocks.

Disliked: The toilet shower block near us always busy. No toilet paper supplied, fairly dirty, no toilet paper and one of the showers was missing a door so there was a queue.

Liked: Lovely relaxing site. Choose your own pitch so you can go anywhere as pitches not marked out. Lots of lovely bars, shops and restaurants within close walking distance.

Disliked: Showers need modernising.

Electric optional grass and earth pitch

Liked: Proximity to the town and the staff at the office. Toilet blocks very clean.

Disliked: Site felt like a car park. Compared to our previous site there wasn't much for the kids to do and we ended up doing a lot more days out (expensive) rather than staying on site. Pool was out of action for two of the days we were there as was the laundry.

Local attractions

The castles of the Loire Valley are within easy reach, starting with the Château de Villandry (15 minutes’ drive), a Renaissance structure best known for its spectacular formal gardens. Built in the 15th century, the Château de Langeais (15 minutes) enchants with its slender turrets and parkland with views of the Loire. Stretching on the banks of the Loire, the city of Tours (half an hour) has an ornate Gothic cathedral and timber-framed buildings lining cobbled streets. Pink flamingos and turtles inhabit the botanical garden, while the Centre Aquatique du Lac has swimming pools and other water-based attractions. The Arboretum de la Martinière (half an hour) is the place for lakeside strolls and guided tours among bamboo groves, lush ferns and dwarf palm trees. There are also Japanese maple trees and ponds dotted with water lilies, lending the place a peaceful Oriental-garden vibe.
