Trefach Holiday Park: View of the site Trefach Holiday Park: Some of the pitches

General

  • Family-friendly site in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • Outdoor heated swimming pool on site
  • Less than 30 minutes’ drive from Oakwood Theme Park

Peace, the Preseli Hills and an outdoor pool where you can watch the kids splash around from the comfort of the courtyard terrace… think you could handle some of that on your hols? If so, pitch up at family-friendly Trefach Holiday Park, minutes from the hills of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Trefach is a peaceful and secluded site in a remote location with scenic walks around the local countryside, but it’s within driving distance of loads of things to do too, like visiting the fishing villages and coastal towns of Tenby, Haverfordwest, Dinas Cross and Fishguard, tracking down some of the best views in Wales, or hitting Blue Flag beaches for watersports and lounging.

On site, there’s a play area and games room to keep the kids entertained alongside the heated pool, and a clubhouse and bar-restaurant serving up seasonal entertainment and meals.

I love this site, its not butlins, its just a small family run site on a working farm, I was worried about noise as I'd previously seen some reviews complaining about noise and yes at night there was some noise, but people are on holidays and enjoying, we travelled with out 16month and 9 year old,the noise never woke the baby, so as far as I'm concerned it's not an issue.
We traveled over bank holiday and the entertainment at the club house was great! Weather was hot so pool was enjoyed by us.
Toilets are great, sometimes the floor is a bit muddy/ wet.. as your camping! But there's a mop there for you to mop it up.
Plenty to do around the area with oakwood and heatherton, Saundersfoot and Tenby.
All in all a great holiday and would definitely return

    Clean facilities
    Friendly staff
    Great entertainment
    Swimming pool and games room.
    Large open spaces
    Dog bins
The lack of light made stargazing on a clear night amazing (slightly spoiled by a few campers nearby hanging their very bright fairy lights around!)

    Disliked:

If you want a peaceful site then beware...Site allows large groups to camp close together so were very noisy at night!
We didn't see anyone patrolling the site after 10pm to deter their music or extremely loud chatting (I think they wanted everyone to know what they were talking about!)
Unisex toilets/shower block - might be a problem for some.
Showers were very hot so we had to bathe children carefully.
    Food wasn't great
No WiFi anywhere (WiFi in the clubhouse was only available to BT customers)

Super helpful and friendly site. Perfect position to trip out to the local coastlines. Cannot rate Andrea and her team high enough, nothing was too much trouble at all. Food was good and the bar and entertainment made for great evenings. The pool was perfect for the children to play and enjoy themselves fully supervised by us on picnic tables right along side. Highly recommend this site and would definitely return

Loved the size of the Park, not too big and not too small. Lovely clubhouse and pool. Plenty of room in the shower block and cleaned regularly.
Food was good value and so handy to be able to have a takeaway if needed. Drinks were also very reasonably priced.
Owner and staff were all really lovely and approachable.
A tragic event happened whilst we were there and the staff handled it and the aftermath so well.

    Disliked:

The pitches were very close together and we were unfortunate enough to be next to the family from hell - constantly arguing and swearing, playing loud music from their van and generally rather unpleasant.
I could have complained to the park but I don’t think it would achieved much. The family had already been evicted from another campsite and I think it would have turned ugly.

Local attractions

You don’t have to stick to fishing villages while you’re at Trefach Holiday Park: several towns are within driving distance of the site and you can take part in festivals, traipse around farmers’ markets or empty your wallet in the shops while you’re there.

Pembrokeshire’s arts and crafts capital, Narberth, is about 15 minutes’ drive from Trefach and the ruins of the Norman Narberth Castle lie just above the town. Slightly further afield, make the 30-minute trip to Cardigan for the National Wool Museum, New Quay Honey Farm and taking a boat out to dolphin-spot in Cardigan Bay.

Pack a picnic for a day in the Preseli Hills: explore on two feet or from horseback, and take in the views towards the Irish coast in the west and the Brecon Beacons to the east. See if you can spot bluestones just like the ones that make up part of the inner circle of Stonehenge and ask yourself whether the stones at Stonehenge were really transported the 180 miles from here.

Take the kids to Oakwood Theme Park at nearby Narberth for a hair-raising experience on adrenaline-fuelled rides, or try something a little more sedate with go-karting or panning for gold in them thar hills. If rollercoasters aren’t their speed, try Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, less than 30 minutes from Trefach, where they can visit the exotic animals in the zoo or get up close with the farm animals in the barn.

Elsewhere around Pembrokeshire and in the national park, there are gardens, vineyards, adventure farms, castles and more to explore, with plenty of options for wet days too: try slithering among the reptiles at Dragon Reptiles or jumping around the giant adventure playground at Bluestone National Park Resort.
