Orchard View: Bell tent

General

  • Small, peaceful south Somerset five minutes' drive from Wedmore
  • Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge and Wells Cathedral within 20 mins' drive
  • One-acre camping field in a secluded orchard; dogs welcome on site

Peace and pretty views come as standard at Orchard View – this small-scale site in the south Somerset countryside has been set up in a secluded apple orchard with a backdrop of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There’s plenty of space to pitch up comfortably here, with an acre of land set aside for the campsite and guest numbers kept on the low side. The village of Wedmore is about five minutes’ drive away for shops, pubs, restaurants and other handy amenities.

This is a super spot for those aiming to get out for walks or bike rides – there are footpaths and bridleways all around, taking you through the woods and foothills that run down to the Somerset Levels. Cheddar Gorge is about 20 minutes away by car if you want to take a hike between the craggy cliffs over there for a change of scenery.

Various essential amenities are back on site for guests – including a toilet and sink, showers, a chemical waste disposal point and water/waste water facilities. Dogs are welcome to join you at this site, which is well geared up for travelling pets, with a designated dog walking area where they can have a proper run around.

If you like to finish up your camping days by building a blaze of some sort, you’ll be in good company here – open fires and barbecues are welcome in the designated areas, and logs, charcoal and firelighters are all available to buy on site.

Please note

Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

Group bookings of 8 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

We loved it all. The bell tent was a lovely base for our holiday. Fantastic fire pits. Nothing was too much trouble for Reggie and Marie who were the perfect hosts. Clean toilet and washing areas. The site is dog friendly and all the other campers we met were friendly too 😁 All of us want to visit again next year. Thank you

This site is a hidden gem! By far the best site we stayed at during our recent tour of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. A really friendly welcome on arrival. Shower and toilet facilities were kept absolutely immaculate and cleaned/checked several times a day. Nice big open pitches and we loved the communal fire pits as it brought a really friendly vibe to the site. Can't wait to go back again.

Lovely small campsite enough space between tents. Showers were lovely and hot good temperature. They were also very clean so were the toilets. Cleaned and toilet paper filled daily. Nice and dark at night to do some star gazing. So bring a torch to walk around camp in the dark. The bbq and fire pits were brilliant. We were staying at the same time as several other families and as the kids played and got on really well we had two nights where we had fun around the fire pit having marshmallows and smores. Kids enjoyed the freedom on the site. Great time had by all.

If u r not in the first field the orchard field and upper field r both a little uneven.
