Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Beautiful setting, peaceful, large pitches. Nice reception area with kettle in the kitchen. Clean toilets etc. Let me stay an extra night for free when my car had broken down. Would love to come back one day.

Disliked Would be nice if more forest pitches had electric. Shower water flow not fantastic and only stays on for seconds, but facilities were nice and clean.

Non-electric gravel and earth campervan pitch (woodland)

Liked Loved our stay at Ashbourne Woods and will definitely visit again!!
The camping is amazing (not really wild though haha). Loved the lay out, the way a busy site still felt private. The store had a few really convenient things-even vegan butter! The pub is a 10min walk away and served excellent food with the best service we’ve had in 6 years in the UK!

Non-electric gravel and earth campervan pitch (woodland)

Liked This campsite has a really unique feel to it with pitches cut into various areas of woodland, giving you plenty of privacy but still with a good size of pitch.
Very friendly hosts/staff and thoroughly enjoyed the vibe that the campsite offered - was sad to only be staying for one night!
10-15 walk to the local pub in Rattery which is dog friendly and serves excellent food!

Non-electric gravel and earth campervan pitch (woodland)

Liked Just loved the peace, quiet and space that this pitch had. Great having our own water tap too. The lady at reception was really friendly and helpful and the facilities were great.
The site was really well located, not far off the A38, but still felt quiet and tucked away. We will definitely be back for another visit.

Disliked All good.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Such a relaxing place, very helpful reception
Lots of lovely walks through the woods both of our dogs loved it
Easy access from the A38 less than 2 minutes yet no road noise
Shower and toilet block and for those in a tent a big kitchen and dining area with a couple of vending machines
Chemical disposal point.for the motorhome
The reception also houses a small shop stocking the essentials
Anyone camping with kids would really love the freedom this place offers who wouldn't enjoy a camp fire in the woods

Non-electric gravel and earth campervan pitch (woodland)

Liked Absolutely stunning peaceful location within a huge wooded area. Great size plots. Van plots are seperate and away from tents. All plots dotted within the trees with plenty of space. Host was lovely and took into account the doggos, giving us an open and shaded area for them. Lovely walks around the woods. Pub close by, that allowed dogs also. Fire pit supplied with plot, so nice to sit around and chill in the peaceful evenings. Highly recommended for all those loving the less commercial and more back to nature camping experience.

Local attractions

Tucked away needn’t mean being stuck for things to do… Set in the South Hams on the south coast of Devon, the campsite is just off the accessible A38, 10 miles from the sea and less than a mile from Dartmoor National Park. Half an hour’s drive away is Compton Castle, a manor with orchard-filled gardens for apple-y ambling around, while the National Trust’s Church House on Dartmoor is just over a 20-minute drive north. For active types, horse riding and sailing can also be jumped upon around Dartmoor and on the coast. Cast a line to Hatchlands Trout Farm, just ten minutes by car, for fly fishing on the well-stocked rainbow trout lake, or try the coarse fishing also available in the surrounding areas: ask the Ashbourne Woods team to point you and your rod in the right direction. As well as the nearby beaches to treat and tire out, day trips to keep little holidaymakers happy also include Pennywell Farm (less than five minutes away) where animal fans can snuggle the pigs, collect eggs, help feed the lambs and even try their hand at milking the goats; Woodland Family Theme Park for daredevil youngsters (just 30 minutes away), with rides, falconry display and zoo farm, and Staverton Steam Railway, the first choo-choo-choice for little locomotive fans.
