  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked N/a

Disliked There was no running water in the campsite, toilets blocked and overflowing, nowhere to wash hands, brush teeth etc.
Extremely disgusting facilities and no hygeine due to this. The smell was overwhelming.
No communication from staff about when the water would be fixed, it was not working for at least 12 hours when we departed.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great sized pitch

Disliked On arrival it was difficult to find the pitch… and we weren’t the only ones driving up a down which was annoying! Toilets and showers were ok. On our last morning (bank holiday so park was full) there was no running water… the toilets were disgusting. Nobody from the management seemed bothered.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The amenities were very good, excellent shower/toilet facilities

Disliked Extremely confusing to try and find your hard standing pitch when numbers were not clear and someone was already on our pitch, did ask a gentleman driving a tractor who was no help what so ever, meaning a return trip to the reception, all in all took 45 minutes to get a pitch.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Clean toilets and plenty of showers. Nice big pitch with water point right next to the pitch.

Disliked Crazy long wait for food in the bar. Booked swimming but were turned away as they said reception shouldn't have booked us in due to a regular weekly event. No wifi on caravan pitches, very sloping pitches. Shop looked like it was the end of season, not the start. Fridges empty all weekend.

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked The park itself is lovely and clean the views are amazing... Showers and toilets spotless...

Disliked First day I turned up to find out everything on the park is cashless so me turning up with 2 to 300 quid in my pocket was useless and I was never told of this before I booked... Then I payed about 15quid for the Internet extra so my kids could use there tabs.. It never worked I went back to reception to ask why its not working at first it felt like they were trying to fob me off untill a few others started to complain about the service they then said they would look into it.... Still didn't work... Plus u pay extra for the passes so u can swim but be prepared to not get a chance to swim we tried for 4 days running and didn't get close.. U would be better off taking a blow up swimming pool

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The pitch we had was great, not very well marked up but once found was perfect.

Disliked The communal areas toilets, showers weren’t very clean had to wear shoes in the shower as floor was covered in sand, returned hours later and still the same. On the Monday morning there was no water at the site, I know this can’t be helped but the emergency numbers supplied just rang and rang.
The pub/restaurant was very under staffed, I have food allergies and they didn’t seem to be well trained on procedures, and that didn’t feel with confidence but I wasn’t unwell so all good. Food that we had was very nice.
The tables were always dirty and one evening the table in the pool room was full with over 40 plates, glasses and cutlery. I had to ask for a table to be cleared and cleaned for us to be seated. I also feel the food is very over priced. £90 for a family of 4 for pizza’s and curry plus soft drinks.

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more specis to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
