  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Pitch was excellent, toilet and showers lovely and clean, showers had motion sensor so no need to keep pressing buttons and lovely and hot

Disliked Was advertised with a pool, pub and a club, but these facilities not open until March. When we arrived was told our pitch drove around to find another caravan on there, had to call reception to get this moved and was rectified in about 10 mins,

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The site itself was very nice and well kept.

Disliked Signal not good. I paid £12 for 4 days WiFi which was a complete waste of money as still no signal so felt a bit of a rip off to be honest

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked During high season I'm sure this would tick all the boxes for families.

Disliked Shouldn't advertise as open during low Season as clearly they dont want to be. No warning that reception would be closed after 2pm so found a sheet of paper stuck to a window with ALL booking details on. Instructions to find a pitch on a map thats not actually on the map. No heating in toilets at all (accessible toilet block only as main block locked). Hot water in block activated by 50ps. (Back to the 1960s we go)!. One hand dryer located at exit of facilities for all toilets!!

Internet non existent and so is phone signal so in the event of any problems theres a payphone (back to the 60s we go again).

I did inform reception next morning how I felt the advertising of all names, pitch numbers and booking references was a serious security breach and I was told that its the only way to do it when there's late book ins (about 10 seperate parties were on the list). I did ask what happened to phone or email instructions? ( that question definitely wasn't well received so yep back the 60s with a piece of paper stuck to a window we go) and then she showed me on the map where my pitch was by actually drawing it on as it wasn't on the printed map. Well it's marked on the floor she told me. Great, good job I knew that (not) when reading the map I was instructed by the poster on the window to take!

Such a modern site with such old values and training. Customer may not always be right but at least be polite and security when there is noone on site and no phone signal should be paramount. Advertising all names and references is a major security risk for people on site.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The gents toilet and shower facilities were excellent. Clean, comfortable, and very well heated, which was especially appreciated given the cold weather.

The site itself has good potential and appears well laid out during daylight hours.

Disliked Evening arrival was poorly handled. Despite Pitchup confirming arrivals were permitted until 8.00 pm, there were no staff on site, reception was closed, and there was no lighting on signage, making navigation in the dark very difficult.

Locating reception and pitchtook a considerable amount of time, particularly in cold, wet, and windy conditions.

The pitch had no clear markings and we could not locate the electric hook-up, which forced us to use a nearby pitch.

The ladies toilets and showers were reported by my wife and daughter to be very cold, with low water temperature, and did not appear to be heated in the same way as the gents.

Lack of sanitary bins in the ladies cubicles, which required sanitary waste to be taken elsewhere.

Wi-Fi performance at the pitch was very poor across all devices.

It was not made clear at booking that Wi-Fi was chargeable, and paying £6 per day for such limited connectivity was disappointing, especially as many parks now offer a basic free option.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The location was easy to find lots of hard standing pitches all fields have there own shower block with ample showers and toilets and washing up areas all very clean and well kept . Views were lovely and the walks are very nice ! Only 15 mins drive from a big Tesco and the harbour with good parking for high top vans dog friendly lots of space the dogs to roam ( on the lead )

Disliked Receptionist was very unwelcoming. Put phone down on me twice as no reception but was rude . Seemed unapproachable so never bothered to go ask for the maps for the walk just winged it . Payed for 4 nights internet as the options were 1 day or 4 .. still had no internet on first day but did on second so we put that down to wind . No coverage for id mobile ( three)
Shower water a bit cold

Liked Beautifully clean toilet / shower block

Disliked No staff to be found anywhere on arrival so was not entirely certain where to pitch . There was a late arrivals notice but we weren’t on that and it was 3pm. Website didn’t suggest everything would be closed although because twixmas wasn’t a shock or an issue - was unsettling not having anyone check us in

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more specis to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
