  • Family-friendly park 10 minutes' drive from Newquay
  • Covering 56 acres including a dedicated dog area
  • Pool, play zones, clubhouse and fish and chip takeaway
There’ll be plenty of time for monkey business in this family-friendly site… Surrounded by a whopping 56 acres of countryside and a fab place for taking toddlers, Monkey Tree Holiday Park is 10 minutes from Perranporth and its huge open beach, as well as the lively surf centre of Newquay. As you might already (luckily) know, the north coast of Cornwall is tiptop for beaches – Newquay's famed for its world-class waves and heady nightlife, while Perranporth has kayaking and hovercrafting to get adventurously stuck into, and top-notch coastal walks on either side of the beach. Back at base, catch a few pages of your book while the kids splash about in the outdoor heated pool complex… or while they join in with the packed entertainment schedule for juniors (there's a talented in-house entertainment team on hand with a daily kids' club and Funky Monkey putting in a regular appearance). On top of that, a maze of net walkways, slides and ball pools means that younger guests will have plenty to keep them entertained, whatever the weather. Food's sorted with the on-site clubhouse and restaurant, and fish and chip takeaway (fish and chips + seaside = essential). Or fire up the barbecue instead: hit up the camp store for the essentials, or head to the grocery store 10 minutes away.

Liked: Stayed 4 nights May half term in a campervan. Entertainment was great for kids and adults...special entertainment team guest Liam covering holiday was brilliant, a hit with the kids and adults. All staff were helpful, friendly and happy. Place was clean and well maintained. Shower and toilet facilities decent and cleaned regularly. Laundrettes scatters around not just in one place. Pool is great. Bar not overpriced. On site shop well stocked and not too expensive. Had a fantastic time.

Disliked: Poor signal but not their fault. Didn't see wifi code anywhere but we brought our own so didn't have a huge impact on us but may affect others.

Electric grass pitch (comfort)

Liked: Staff are amazing, the shower facility are some of the best I've had over the years, this site is perfect for children I'd say age 10 and below, the only thing for older children was the pool (closed in rain) or the football pitch. The kids entertainment and family bingo are a massive hit, again I'd say for younger children

Disliked: The chips from the chip shop are not chippy chips they are like steak cut frozen chips. Toilets in the venue need to be updated to match the facilities across the park

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Clean & tidy. Well maintained, lots to do for kids, didn't get to swim due to lack of booking spaced and crap weather.

Disliked: Some of the entartainment was VERY loud, even by my standards. But we had to leave kids entertainment (magic show) and the band the night before, as our little ones just could not tolerate the unnessecarly loud PA system. People would have been able to hear fine if it were turned down a tad. Just felt a bit sad for my 3 year old as she was so excited to see a real magician, but she couldnt bare to be there without her hands over her ears. Which really took away the shine and the fun in that aspect for her. So just ended up pumping more money into the arcade.
Then due to where we were situated (right next to a main path) we got the noise, shouting and swearing of everone piling out the club house at god knows what time...hearing about how smashed they were, shouting kids and lary parents. Yes it's a family site, but that sort of noise when the majority of the park are asleep or trying to is just unnacceptable. And i wouldnt confront drunk people considering thier mannerisms and 'knowing where we're staying'.

Liked: We loved this campsite and can't wait to return. From the great sized, well kept pitches, to the toilet and shower blocks close no matter where you were situated, plenty of little parks to chose from. The swimming pool was great, the clubhouse was brilliant, served fast, great entertainment for everyone and the arcades to keep the children happy too. Overall very impressed with this place. The staff upon check in were extremely helpful too.

Disliked: We did struggle to find the dedicated dog area but wasn't a big deal.

Local attractions

Cornwall’s coastline and beaches are pretty much legendary, but Newquay (10 minutes) is world-famed for its surf and nightlife too. It’s a party town from daybreak until well after dark and the surf's so good they hold international competitions here – check out Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. Perranporth (10 minutes) is the place to head for a more relaxed beach day, though it’s very popular so best to get your towel down early. The beach here is a fab spot for dog walking, rolling up the trousers for a paddle or lazing around and copping a look at the views. The Eden Project (35 minutes) has the UK’s most realistic rainforest, full of rare plant species and exotic butterflies, as well as a pretty nifty Mediterranean biome. Daredevils can also have a go on England’s longest zipwires – or head over to Flambards in Helston (45 minutes) for flumes, rollercoasters and go karting.
