  • Friendly West Sussex campsite with handy indoor space
  • A 10-minute drive from Selsey and Chichester
  • Indoor 'beach' area with sandpit, books and games
Find your new happy place at Creative Camping, an aptly named campsite close to the West Sussex coastline. Located midway between Selsey on the coast and the historic city of Chichester, this laidback spot is a top pick for families and friends looking for a getaway somewhere just that little bit different. As well as the well-maintained pitches and green outdoor area, Creative Camping has a spacious indoor area for guests to enjoy. Come and relax on the indoor 'beach', sit back on one of the comfy chairs, let the kids play in the sandpit or take your pick of the games and books on offer. The indoor space also has a lounge and dining area, a kitchen with sinks, two toilets, two showers, a changing room and a baby changing table. When you spend time outside, you'll appreciate the site's quiet location away from the road and the natural feel of the place – sit back and relax and it's quite likely that you'll see birds of prey flying overhead. Dogs are welcome here and there's easy access to footpaths in the local area for their walks. The sensible use of open fires and barbecues is allowed, and guests can make use of the site's big barbecue and pizza oven. Handily, Sidlesham village centre, where there is a pub, is about a quarter of a mile away to the north.

What customers say

A top-notch, quirky, friendly spot for families, with loads of toys and activities. Owners are brilliant, facilities are clean, pitches are big, and free fire pits/BBQs are a great touch. Outdoor showers a hit. Some road noise and older facilities, but overall a chilled, safe, and great value stay.

Liked Kym is very friendly and helpful! Her little campsite is great for families. Lots of things to do and places to relax. Lots of toilets and showers for everyone. A small communal kitchen and sitting area are available and very inviting.

Liked Everything, we used one of the outside showers this time which was lovely and warm. All the toys are still available for the kids to play with which is great. This is still our favourite campsite.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Really good campsite. Showers and bathrooms were clean, with no queues to use even though the campsite was nearly fully booked. Kitchen amenities were good, with lots of options to cook outside and have fire pits, we would definitely make use of these if we were staying longer. Stayed over for Goodwood Festival which it was an excellent location for and far more budget friendly than hotels or airbnbs. Could not recommend more. Very family friendly, with lots of activities and toys to use. Check in was easy and the staff were really friendly. Good sized pitches.

Disliked Nothing.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Family-oriented campsite with a lovely atmosphere. The outdoor showers are a fantastic experience, especially on very hot days. We also really appreciated being able to borrow a fire pit and buy logs on site. There are lots of useful items available to borrow free of charge, so you don't have to worry about bringing every piece of camping equipment with you. These thoughtful touches made our stay much more enjoyable and convenient.

Local attractions

There are all sorts of coastal corners you'll want to explore while in West Sussex, from the wildlife haven wetlands of RSPB Pagham Harbour (five minutes' drive) to the cheerful seafront at Selsey (10 minutes) or the sandy stretches of West Wittering (15 minutes). Slightly further afield, it's easy to get to other maritime spots, whether you fancy a day trip to the seaside resort and pleasure harbour at Littlehampton (30 minutes) or want to walk around the historic dockyards of Portsmouth (30 minutes). Jaunts to the bright lights and vintage shops of Brighton (an hour and 10 minutes) are also on the cards if you fancy a really special day out. There's also much to see and do inland locally, with many of the prettiest parts of the South Downs National Park just a short drive away. While you're in the area, make sure to check out pretty historic country estates like Arundel Castle (25 minutes), and if ancient history's your thing you can make tracks for the mosaics and columns of Fishbourne Roman Palace (15 minutes).
