What customers say

Lovely, neat, quiet spot with great views and big pitches. Clean ablutions. Good base for Kendal/Lake District, though road access isn't perfect and you might hear the M6. Basic but peaceful and good value, many want to come back.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The views are stunning and the communication from the site owner was great.

Disliked Lack of facilities for the amount of people on site.
2 showers and 3 male and female toilets are not enough when there are at least 100 people on site!
Noise, not monitored after 10pm

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked We loved it here. Lovely views. Was lovely and quiet the first few days (before bank holiday weekend) was almost like it was our own site. Facilities always clean. Showers a great idea!

Disliked The shower’s hot water was an issue but owner was on it and constantly ensuring it was working once aware. Not a fan of the shower door as slated.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Very peaceful camp site. Has 3 ladies toilets and 3 men’s. 2x unisex showers. Few EHU places. Toilet waste Water. Washing up area. Bins
We had a non elec gravel pitch for 2 nights. We enjoyed our stay. 15mins drive from Sizergh Castle
The normal staff were on holiday

Disliked No lights except outside the toilets so take a torch.
Would like the shower doors not to have small gaps or the coat rail to hang a towel for privacy

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Great quiet site- has my pick of pitches
Level
Facilities were basic, but clean and well maintained. Shower was warm. Wash up area was covered.
Felt safe as a solo traveller
Good value for money

Disliked Pitch was quite stony- struggled.to get my ultralight pegs in in places
A picnic bench or two would be a great addition for any light weight campers - nice to have somewhere to cook/eat.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Best views of a campsite we've had for the countryside Cumbria! Easy access. Facilities were adequate. Staff were very helpful when we got a bit lost finding the camp!

Disliked It was rather noisy with people playing music, kids crying and dogs but it all settled down late at night time.
Our gravel pitch was very angled so bring a few wedge chocks.

Local attractions

The vast grounds at Sizergh Castle (15 minutes’ drive) include woodlands, wetlands, orchards and a rock garden with a collection of lush ferns. The 14th-century mansion at the heart of it all has displays of Elizabethan furniture, paintings and armour; it is also home to the Inlaid Chamber, with its exquisite oak panelling. Petrolheads will appreciate a day at the Lakeland Motor Museum (25 minutes), where vintage cars and motorcycles are presented within the social context of their respective eras – for example, a 1940s tractor is part of a display on the Women’s Land Army (or Land Girls). There are also exhibits on pedal cars and caravans. There are rowing, sailing and racing boats on display at the Jetty Museum in Windermere (half an hour), where you can also take long strolls on the banks of the lake of the same name. Just a little further south, in Bowness-on-Windermere, children can meet Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin and other beloved fictional characters at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.
