Dumble Farm

There’s masses of hiking to keep you happy: as well as the looped walk around the farm, you can explore the scenic River Hull Valley on foot, take a stroll to Laurel Vines Vineyard (25 minutes’ walk) for tours of the vines and winery along with tastings, or follow sections of the undulating Yorkshire Wolds Way (10 minutes’ drive). To see more local wildlife, Tophill Low Nature Reserve (25 minutes) has hides among its wetlands for hopefully spotting kingfishers and otters. At High Eske Nature Reserve (15 minutes), you also stand a good chance of seeing herons and red kites – occasionally otters hunt in the water too. If an urban day out is calling you, Beverley (15 minutes) has a majestic minster, lots of indie stores and a lively music scene in its cosy pubs. Hull (25 minutes) has a huge amount of heritage from its days as a maritime-trading city; there are fascinating – and free – history museums in The Museum Quarter. You can also visit sharks and rays at The Deep aquarium.
