The Old Bush: Spacious serviced pitches

General

  • Small site in the grounds of a Callow End traditional village pub
  • A 15-minute drive from the Malvern Hills and Worcester
  • Large beer garden with outdoor tables, play area and chickens

For those couples/travelling parties that frequently face disagreement over whose turn it is to be designated driver, there’s really only one sensible solution: bed down right there at the pub.

Dozing off at the bar might be considered a little unseemly, so The Old Bush’s owners Matt and Karen have come up with a better solution and set up pitches in the garden area behind their rural Worcestershire pub. Thus guests can partake of dinners accompanied by a few local ales/ciders before strolling home (to a peaceful corner with drinking water, showers and 24-hour toilets) in just a couple of minutes – how civilised.

In fact, the whole setup here is rather civilised: The Old Bush is a traditional country pub in the little village of Callow End, with food available at lunch and dinner times, plus a menu of mini meals for smaller guests. On warmer days the merriment spills out into the garden, where there’s a play area, an aviary and a little flock of chickens along with plenty of tables for open-air drinking, dining and admiring the views over the Malvern hills.

Of course, one can’t sit around in the pub all day (well, maybe not every day, anyway…), so it’s worth noting that this is also a handy location for walks, horse riding, games of golf, fishing and days out in Worcester and Malvern (both 15 minutes away by car). Handily, if you do ‘accidentally’ sup one too many at lunchtime there’s a bus stop in the village so you can still get out and about.

Please note

The bar is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

If you intend to eat at the pub, please let the site know once onsite so you can book a table in advance.

Such a fab little place. We stayed here just overnight to break up a 5 hour journey home from Minehead. We planned to have the afternoon and evening in Worcester after pitching up but the site had everything we needed so we just kicked back and relaxed in the September sun. We didn’t have time to enjoy the pub unfortunately because we bought some really nice chilled cider and take out pizza from the on site deli-cafe which we ate outside our camper. The facilities are amazing and clean for such a small site. Two toilets (open all night), separate locked toilet and shower room in the pub which you get a key for, washing up area, normal bin and recycle bins, waste water disposal, chemical toilet disposal and fresh water all provided. We also paid the little bit extra to have the electric hook up too. The village and surrounding area is quiet so we had a good nights sleep before driving home the next day. We intend to come back again next year for a long weekend so we can visit Worcester and Malvern.

Welcoming, quiet and all that we needed for a night away. The location is perfect at the rear of the wonderful old bush pub. The attention to detail in the pods was fantastic particularly liked the China tea set. I could recommend the food served at the pub and a breakfast sandwich at the shop at the top completed a great and needed break.
