What customers say

Wigmore Lakes gets kudos for its serene vibe, lovely scenery, and ample, flat pitches, many with lake outlooks. Anglers love the fishing, and staff, especially Bob, are helpful. Downsides: toilets/showers need a clean-up and spruce-up; some hygiene concerns. Site's peaceful for most, but not all found it family-friendly, and a few struggled to find the entrance.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Location to Shrewsbury and Welshpool
Site layout is good

Disliked Disliked toilets as there was a constant smell, maybe a drainage problem but they were only cleaned once whilst we were there. That was Thursday evening be for the fishing match on Friday.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Peaceful location with two lovely fishing lakes. Large spacious pitches.

Disliked Toilet/shower block- required more regular maintenance. Often out of toilet paper, bins needed emptying. Automatic light in men’s toilets only stayed in for a few seconds.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked If your into fishing there were two lakes.

Disliked Not the best camp site we've been too. Showers were very outdated and wasn't the cleanest.
The small kitchen looked like it could of done with a huge clean. Bin bags and unwashed plates ECT left everywhere even though we brought our own tea milk ECT there was just an old stained kettle to use in the kitchen and not even a carton of milk to help yourself too. Considering we paid £45 for two nights. We've stayed at campsites before for half the price and you at least got a cup of coffee or tea you could help yourself too on arrival and during your stay. It does say free wifi however there was no passwords ECT regarding this info.
Doubt we will visit again

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Views, peaceful location and pitch being perfect.

Disliked Unfortunately the toilet facilities were unclean, especially the ladies. In the ladies the actual toilets were dirty, full of dead incests and cobwebs. A bucket and mop were their for cleaning but the contents were putrid and smelly, basically they would have made the floor dirtier.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind and take the bus just outside Wigmore Lakes for a history-hunting day in Shrewsbury, taking care to stroll down as many shuts (medieval streets) as possible. If you're around in August, the esteemed Shrewsbury Flower Show is one of the biggest flora-based fests in England. Also have a wander around Welshpool (Wigmore Lakes is between it and Shrewsbury) and take a trip to Ironbridge for several award-winning museums based around the Industrial Revolution. For proper wanders, a network of footpaths is close to the site, including the Offa's Dyke Path, skirting by both Shrewsbury and Welshpool on its 177-mile run from Chepstow to Prestatyn.
