  • Scenic park on the river Witham, 10 minutes' drive from Tattershall
  • A 35-minute drive from Lincoln and 15 from Tattershall Farm Park
  • Playground, river fishing, waterside walks and pub-restaurant on site
What a lovely Lincolnshire location this is – dog-friendly Riverview Caravan Park’s location on the banks of the Witham river is a mighty scenic place to spend a bit of time… You’re on holiday, so you’d be quite justified in deciding to settle down right there by the river for lengthy periods in the company of a book and/or picnic. Keep that view in sight by heading out for a waterside walk or launching your own paddleboard or kayak from the boat jetty too. Keen to go fishing? The site has one mile of fishing along the river Witham, all set just 20 metres from the pitches. The on-site fishing is known for tench, carp and big bream weighing up to seven kilograms, as well as its fortnightly competitions. A modern gym is on-hand for those times when you feel like fitting in a good workout. For families, there’s a playground as well as an indoor pool (open during high season only) where they can play about whatever the weather. If they (or you) are plane fans, they may like to know that RAF Conningsby is a short distance away with a World War II museum. Fighter jets and the occasional Lancaster fly overhead, so it can get a bit noisy (especially during the week) but settle down for your own personal air show and enjoy the sights. When it comes to food, the on-site pub and restaurant is likely to be your go-to. Serving up homecooked food, it has a beer garden overlooking the river along with local entertainment such as singers, bingo and karaoke. On Saturdays and Sundays, it serves a full English breakfast, and on Sundays, there is a Sunday roast up for grabs. It also has a kids' menu. For out-and-about times, local town Tattershall is less than 10 minutes away by car and Lincoln city centre around 35 minutes.

What customers say

A friendly, well-kept spot with a nice riverside spot. Popular with plane spotters near RAF Coningsby. Reviews praise clean facilities and helpful staff. Pods are good value. Some minor upkeep needed, but many found it a peaceful escape and plan to return.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Quiet site, great location for watching the jets fly over or going to see them only 10mins down the road by car. The toilets and shower were clean

Disliked Few things need to be fixed. Shower screen in both the ladies and men’s were broken. The one in the ladies is learning against the wall. Door handle in the ladies again the door handle is left on windowsill

No handsoap is any of the toilets

The washing up area is right next to where you empty your toilet waste from the caravans to me that is unhygienic. I’m guessing it’s a temporary measure as it’s just a sink on wooden frame.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Quiet location

Disliked Site needs be looked after, looks like just for making money, the pitches has an extension to connect the caravans because the electric points don'twork, bins overflowing, the interior pool water was cold, gym appliance broken.
With a trip 2.5h was expecting better based on the pictures

Camping pod

Liked Great environment, local conveniences, staff were really friendly and I would absolutely stay again despite the very minor dislikes.

Disliked Showers were blocked. With tonnes of hair. Didn’t realise the pub only took cash for food- local cashpoints didn’t work.

Liked Good size pitch and tarmac road. Very close to the river. And a quiet site.

Disliked Rubbish bins over flowing, lots of maintenance required around the site.

Camping pod

Liked Friendly site, staff were very welcoming and helpful on arrival and were responsive to requests for information and assistance.
Nice location - good for dog walks down the canal and some nice pubs and restaurants in neighbouring villages.
Cheap and cheerful site.

Disliked It was a little disappointing that the food in the bar was cash only - it wouldn't have been an issue if we had known in advance, but we only found out when we ordered. As there is no cash point within walking distance and we couldn't drive due to having a couple of drinks whilst setting up, this meant we were unable to purchase an evening meal.
There was no soap in the toilet blocks the entire weekend we were there. At times there was no toilet roll either. Thankfully we had brought some with us but for people that hadn't, this would have been very inconvenient.

Camping pod

Liked Beautiful location

Disliked Broken decking, outside furniture & door wouldn't lock.

Shower was broken
Toilets were dirty and no soap in handbasin
Site was very untidy
People in caravan nearby playing loud music, shouting & swearing.. and firing an air gun (not the best start to a relaxing weekend)

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Quiet, peaceful location, in the middle of nowhere so take plenty of supplies to cover the amount of time you are spending there. If you like low flying Typhoon jets then great, they are just a few miles away at RAF Coningsby and they fly over the site Monday to Thursday, but not all day long. Nothing really for kids, however, Skegness is only 20 miles away.
has a nice indoor pool, also Bar/club house, Wifi only available in club and not on campsite .

Disliked Dog owners, not all, just those who can't be bothered to clean up their mess, maybe if they stuck to the site rule of "Keep all dogs on a lead" then you may just notice that your dog is crapping all over the place. Wasps seem to be a problem down the far corner but not too bad.

Camping pod

Liked Really friendly and welcoming hosts, very chatty, willing to sort out any problem immediately.
Clean facilities both pod and onsite facilties.
Really quiet on a night so able to get to sleep at a decent time.
Great to watch the planes going over.
Even the cold pool was a pleasant addition in the extreme heat.
Great base to use for exploring surrounding villages.
Will definitely be back, and probably for longer next time.

Local attractions

Having viewed your own bit of the river, it’s likely that you’ll be enticed into getting out for a walk – especially when you learn that there are a couple of riverside pubs nearby. There’s more strolling to be done in Tattershall Lakes Country Park (five minutes’ drive), plus the chance to get a bit of watery activity at Just Wake wakeboarding centre. Take off to Tattershall (around 10 minutes’ drive) for a wander around Tattershall Castle – a proper textbook castle with a moat and 15th-century tower to potter around. Just outside town is Tattershall Farm Park (15 minutes), where egg collecting, sheep shearing and hanging out with hairy Highland cows are likely to meet with approval from tiddlers (and quite probably their elders too…). A day out in Lincoln (35 minutes) must surely be on the list – it’s got a real slice of history, being home to one of the four original copies of the Magna Carta. You’ll likely feel like you’ve stepped back in time if you catch a film at Kinema in the Woods (15 minutes) too: the flicks have been running since 1922 here, and there’s still a resident organist to provide the tunes.
