What a peaceful park this is for Peak District hols – on 11 acres of quiet woodland near the national park and set deep in the Derbyshire countryside with picnic areas peppered all around. And what a pleasing park this is for those who insist on amenities being immaculate and up to date – the toilet and shower block comes with disabled access, baby changing and showers with hot and cold water, and is kept in tiptop condition at all times by the friendly site team. Riddings Wood Holiday Park is a rural park but with easy access to urban centres like Derby and Nottingham as well as to the hikes, bike rides and canters of the Peak District. (If you're a bit bamboozled as to what to do first, have a look at the tourist info point in reception or ask the team for tips.) Campfires are allowed if you need a bit of warming upon return. And finally, what a pint-friendly site Riddings Wood is too – the only thatched-roof pub in Derbyshire, Moulders Arms (aka The Thack), is a short stroll away; and the Seven Stars, a community pub, is just across the road. Peaceful woodland spot with top staff. Clean, modern loos and showers a big plus. Kids loved the playground, and it's great for dog walks. Some sloped pitches, but spacious and clean for a chilled stay.

Liked Was an amazing weekend away. Log cabin is so beautiful, well decorated, warm, cosy and romantic. Kitchenette had everything needed for a weekend stay.
Hot tub was amazing. Will definitely be back to stay again.
No WiFi but wasn’t needed.

Liked Everything. The owners where lovely and helpful. The lodge was perfect, cosy and warm, and decorated for Christmas. The hot tub was perfect and ready for our arrival.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked The shower block was very clean and the water was hot

Disliked The washing up area was not under cover (canopy) and it started to rain so unable to complete

Our pitch was low down the field and we found the walk to the toilet block by the entrance quite steep

Luxury Woodland lodge (hot tub)

Liked Lovely hot tub and nice little setting. Was cheap and cheerful.

Disliked Not as clean as would have liked and no internet. Lady at office was rude when asked about internet.

Liked Nice lay out, plenty of space between pitches. Nice park for children. Shame the large wooden toilet block in the middle wasn’t open. Only one at the top of site. Nice helpful staff.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Unfortunely i couldnt pitch my tent as it was really bad weather but i did visit the site and it looked really nice. The lodges looked really pretty and there were caravans pitched on the site and some brave people had set their tent up even though it was raining and very cold. I will definetly be back when the weather is sunnier though.

To the Peak! The Peak District National Park is but a short drive from Riddings Wood Holiday Park, and has a bit of what you fancy for all ages and inclinations. If you're in the area to hike, there are more Peak District trails than you can shake a (walking) stick at, from the shorter treks of seven or so miles around the upper Dove Valley and Pilsbury Castle, to long-distance paths like the Limestone Way (46 miles), the Derwent Valley Heritage Way (55 miles) or the Peak District parts of the Pennine Way, running for 268 miles from the northern Peak District to just inside the Scottish border. Climbers and cavers also delve into all things Peak: thousands of routes for all abilities are all over the park for climbers, including Burcen Edge for beginners and more hair-raising ascents like Debauchery and Mad Dogs and Englishmen for the severely experienced. If you're of a cavernous disposition, make your way to the village of Castleton and its four show caves, Blue John, the Peak, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Cavern with underground boat trip. Matlock Bath has a cable car to take adventurers to limestone caverns The Heights of Abraham, and Poole's Cavern near Buxton has vast caves to explore before an above-surface walk around Buxton Country Park. Other attractions like Chatsworth House and Gardens and the old Crich Tramway are to hand for the historically-minded, alongside old Peak District villages and market towns for tearooms, restaurants, family pubs and lots of shopping: try Buxton, Ashbourne and Bakewell to start you off. Back at Matlock Bath, let the kids go large at the rides and attractions of theme and play park Gullivers Kingdom for ages two to 13; the 600-acre Matlock Farm Park nearby should keep them busy for a bit too.

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 14 day(s) of arrival.

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Firearms are not permitted.

Hired accommodation

Hired accommodation: £150,00 (R3 782,92) damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure after inspection of your unit should no damage/losses be found.

In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

Changes to your holiday

Modifications are subject to a £15,00 (R378,29) fee.

Extras

Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

Arrivals and departures

No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Vehicles

No vehicle movement between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Only one car is to be parked by the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.

General

Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.

Reception

Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. between 01/01 and 31/12.
Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.

General

The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
