Cheap and cheerful, but won't be returning.08/13/2024

Views are lovely there. The quiet section was quiet. Laid back owners. They were very helpful.

    Disliked:

Showers have no space, no changing area. Clothes get wet. In the men's showers, you have to keep pressing the button to maintain the water flow as 1 press only gives a few seconds of water.

The lanes in and out need cutting back as they are tight to travel up. You have a choice of a long single track lane, or a tight overgrown single track hill climb with a tight S bend.

On friday, a rowdy group of people, sang drunkely around the campsite, at the top of their voices.

The site has very little level ground.
They were allowed to stay and did the same the following night.

Bins were overflowing at the end of the week.

We’ve stayed the same week the past two years, some of the same families stay the same week also so my children have familiar friends to play with. Facilities and views are amazing. Friendly staff. Reasonable priced, central location to various beaches and tourist spots.

Very friendly and welcoming staff in the shop (very good prices in the shop and had all the little bits you need).
Toilet and shower facilities very good, plenty of toilets and showers to use so didn’t have to queue very long.
    Useful washing up station.
Log burners which you can borrow free of charge and very fairly priced wood to buy which was well stocked!
Amazing beaches a short distance away.

    Disliked:

We were lucky to choose/have a tent in the 1st field.. 2nd field was a bit loud.

The people who ran the place seemed very friendly and helpful
They had places you could charge your phone and it was two good sized fields and shower / toilet block

    Disliked:

The place did feel a bit dysfunctional and because the toilet /shower block was in the first field all this was chaotic as a lot of folks tried cramming into this field to be close to the toilets
There is room for a second block in the other field this could have taken the pressure off everyone wanting to camp in the same place as there was no allocated pitches it was go where you want
There some large family groups that monopolised this and there kids were feral everywhere
It made it feel like their site
The lockers for the phones were a good idea but a chap told us he had his phone and power bank stolen out of there
Kids had urinated in the toilets on the floor
The owners needed to be about more to keep on top of this
Some occasions I went in there it was like a dumping ground and was very dirty
The showers were to small you could barley turn round in them they could have been a bit bigger and maybe as before another block as it was constantly full of children and no parents
We actually left a day early it was getting overly booked with campers and the facilities where unable to cope with the influx of campers it was extremely busy
I’ve camped for 13 years and this site was not the best experience it needs better management
It had the potential to be a good place be definitely needs a limit or build another block of toilets and showers in the second field

    Pitch up where you like
Allowed fires and a few fire pits for use
    Large open space
    Toilets were clean
Showers were warm and water flow was good
Information leaflets were very helpful of places local

    Disliked:

    Opening times of the shop/reception
Not a huge amount in the shop
Charging facilities- other families kept them locked even when not using them. When confronting them they were very abusive
Grass was very long which limited places to pitch that weren’t on a hill
A lot of loud families there with an interesting choice of language
Park was very small and limited. Pictures made it look a lot better

The views were lovely, very off …08/11/2024

I want to start by saying that there is nothing wrong with having fun, I am not a Karen, I’ve done my time as a wild youth, I’ve done some mad things in my 30 years and have no regrets - everyone should enjoy their youth and get up to a bit of silliness at least once.
However.. the people at this camp site were the most disrespectful, rude, rowdy bunch I’ve seen in a while. If I wanted to stay up getting absolutely trashed and listening to heavy bass music, I’d go to Butlins or Havens or my local dodgy pub or a rave, but that’s not what wild camping is for.
This area is not advertised as a party camp site, but family friendly and relaxed. This could not be further from the reality of it.
There were lots of families there but the children running around probably hadn’t seen their parents in days. My 9 year old daughter was told to f*** off by a 7 year old??? There were people who had set up a projector to watch films and play video games which, don’t get me wrong, is super cool, but why they felt the need to bring a subwoofer with surround sound that shook the ground and decided to watch films and play games (with loud automatic gun sounds) til past midnight is a mystery to me. I have been to drum and bass raves with better behaved people and cleaner toilets than this campsite.
Again, I don’t want to stop people from running their liver into the ground, it’s their liver, you do you, not my business, but maybe if that is the kind of vibe this campsite is going for then advertise it a bit better!
There was a young couple SCREAMING at each other till 4am on the Friday and a guy shouted at them to shut up and they literally just told him where to go (that’s putting it mildly) and carried on with their very loud argument.
In summary; if you want a nice, peaceful, relaxing, quiet time away camping and enjoying nature - DO NOT book this site. If you want to go on a limitless bender and play loud amplified music and walk around a field with your mates singing Wonderwall and Sweet Caroline till you throw up everywhere, with absolutely no consequences whatsoever, then this is the place for you! It’s like Shameless, but in a field!
Will be much more mindful of where we book for camping in future, and unfortunately will never be coming here again. It’s a shame as this could be a really beautiful place and we were so excited to spend the weekend immersed in nature but the people that were there ruined it entirely, and they seemed to be having so much fun (good for them) that I have no doubt they’ll probably be back next summer!

Roughest most unpleasant campsite I have visited.08/11/2024

  • Primitive grass tent campsite (XL)

The view was pleasant and close to many lovely beaches.

    Disliked:

The roughest campsite I've ever been to. Dominated by a large group of local families drinking, swearing and smoking weed. Their gang of unruly children bullied my grandson continuously and I was unable to let him play freely as I normally do. Two other respectable parents said that their children had also been bullied and they were only allowed to play outside their tent in view of their parents.

My grandson was told that the play area was not for him and Trish and Alan had put the swing in for them. They were there for the whole 6 weeks and suggested my grandson stay in his tent. These families are detrimental to this business.

The facilities are ok but not cleaned daily. There are no facilities in the second field, no toilets, no showers, no water and the grass was long, not ideal for BBQs and firepits.
There are few flat pitches to choose.

The quiet times are not respected and there is no warden to monitor.

The site is blighted by litter left by campers and I didn't see anyone clearing the site. A weekly litter pick would not go amiss.

We paid for an XL pitch but were told to choose a pitch. There was no difference in sizes so the extra £20 paid was unnecessary. No-one checked the pitch allocation so I feel this is false advertising.

I have been camping for many years and never had such an awful break. I am sad that my summer break with my grandchildren was ruined and I am happy to be back home.

If you are from a decent family with well behaved children this is NOT the campsite for you. We would not return if it was free!
